Good to see Moore finally get dumped. Like Grundy, is simply too slow.

"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''. -
Gee, by that logic Kirk should never have played a game. I'm not saying Moore should not have been dropped, but he's not "simply too slow" (and neither is Grundy, for that matter). He needs to work on his fitness, he's a little out of form, but a player of his physical attributes still has a hell of a lot to offer on the footy field.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

I believe young Lewis is injured ATM, and is 3-4 weeks away from a return, so I'd say it will be unlikely that he will make his debut this year.Comment

As a small leading forward/crumber you rely on pace to mark/get the spillage - Moore. Fail.
Kirk has a different role. Contested possessions at the stoppages. Not so reliant on pace, or kicking skills for that matter.

Comprehend?
Moore's future is as a midfielder and stoppage player. At the moment, he is doing his best work in congestion across half forward. Last year, our defensive pressure was much greater across half forward, and Moore relished it, busting out of packs and distributing to the forwardline. A lack of defensive pressure this year is in part due to Moore's dip in form, and in part a cause of it. Moore isn't tackling or chasing as hard as he was last year (a bit of a niggle perhaps? Or just a hangover from last year's success?), which means that there is less congestion when the opposition takes the ball out of defence. This in turn means Moore isn't able to impose himself, as his lack of pace means open play doesn't suit him. Once room is made in the midfield, Moore will slot in quite nicely there and be effective. Don't get me wrong, Moore should have been dropped (I was calling for it a couple of weeks ago), but he's still got plenty to offer.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Beating the Crows
I am still not sure why Adelaide beats us so often and easily. As an ex South Australian i know Neil Craig was coached by the great Jack Oatey whose emphasis was skill skill skill!!! He believed (rightly) that skillfull players will win out in the end and I think the Crows are a skillful team.Skillful teams love a "shoot out" something I haven't seen the swans do in a long time! The Crows have numerous attacking targets up front and can find them with footpassing.Their forwards don't miss(Porplecia!!).Jack Oatey was the opposite of Paul Roos and believed it didn't matter if the opposition kicked 20 goals as long as you kicked 21!This led to attack starting at fullback and high scoring games. The Swans have low scoring games as the emphasis is on defense. In theory then, the Swans should have the game to match the Crows, upset their skill level and choke their scoring.I think Neil Craig is a very good coach who has got the Crows defending very well and has built a defensive structure as good as the Swans on top of an attacking team.I can see no unskilled players in the Crows lineup. We have players who would miss a goal from straight in front 30 metres out.Maybe that's it? The Crows are too skillful and not one dimensional.I feel Roos has made big strides towards making the Swans more multi dimensional this year so it could be a great game if we come ready to play.Comment

Nice to see J Oatey get a mention on RWO but I would've thought Craig joined him a bit late in both of their careers.
A pretty good start so far. Defence has been strong but we're not taking our opportunities in front of goal (just for a change). The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
