Just had an overall air of defeat about him. Mostly I think because numbers were down but he did say that they would sit down with Hall this week now that both parties had had some time to calm down. Maybe he was negative because of the financial disposition of the club as it was mostly corporates in the room.

Jack, as usual did what he was told to do, and did it well, as he usually does.
Grundy stepped up..showed what we hoped, over and over, what we hoped he would.
Vez showed what we hope and hope for from a #9 pick.
Bird showed he may be, at last, demonstrating his talents on the big stage. At last!
MOL reminded us what a gigantic talent he really is.
Hannebery(sp?) let me know in the 2nds that he is going to be awesome.
Above all, Grundy showed what he is capable of...great future ahead.
Oh, and Pyke is looking like a follower in the near future too.
These were all glimpses of the future,. ( well, maybe not Mick) I have great hopes!

To be fair, they've done it to themselves. They see their members as cash pinyatas that they contiunally beat with a stick, rather than supporters of the club - Hopefully lesson learned for next season. If things don't change I can see the WSYD club picking up alot of members with substantially lower packages.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Can someone confirm the changes to the side? Wasn't sitting in my usual spot so had trouble picking up the changes but with richards & LRT doing plenty of the rucking I assume White wasn't playing - anyone else missing? Who came in? The 2nd ruckmen did plenty of work - did people think Jolly was OK?

Thought the first qr was as bad as we've played all year & if the Roos kick straight we're in awful trouble. Love seeing the ball in McV's hands, he was a class above today. Looked much much better in second half especially when we decided it was ok to go down the corridor - we were certainly helped by North dropping about half a dozen sitter marks in the last qr - what the heck happened there?

Anyway, good win in the end, I'll take it.

Nuh, not this year. The only reason he played today is that it is SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!!! You kind of forget he is just a kid.

Second that. Shaw was excellent, even bearing in mind that the dude should never be allowed to think. He is super-important in avoiding us becoming a flat-footed bunch of circular handballers. The management of the Swans post-2014 may still curse us for picking him up at the age of 27, but in 2009 I'll have to admit I was probably wrong and it looks like a good decision.

Number of kicks, handballs, marks etc for Bird don't matter. What matters is that when the game is on the line, and the big kick for glory is required, he delivered. Twice. To say 'captain' is a big call (and saying it about Mal turned out to be the kiss of death), but without doubt a future leader of some sort.

The best thing about Vespa is that he is, going to play far, far better games than this one in the future.

And for all of those (especially outside RWO) banging on about how constantly finishing in the finals (and so, gasp, having no top 10 picks for years) will mean an inevitable crash to the bottom: Craig Bird was eligible and nominated for the 2006 ND, and was overlooked by all 16 clubs. Barring injury, he will be a 200 gamer. You need blokes who can play their part in a winning team game (and sure, it helps if 3 or 4 of them have a touch of class). You do not need half-a-dozen top 3 picks to forge a side that can have a crack at the flag.

For the last 2 years, the story's been that Carlton are on the way up and we're on the way down, apparently. Problem is, they seem to be as slow in climbing up, as we are in falling. The penny is probably still dropping among most of their supporters that the St Kilda of 2006-7 also had a lot of impressive-looking names and top 3 draft picks on its roster.

Don't get me wrong. We will be very lucky to make the 2009 finals and are odds-on to get bounced out first week if we do. But we've seen enough over the last half-a-dozen weeks to be pretty certain that the Swans are not going to revert to 1991-93, just because Kirk, MOL, BBBH, Jude Bolton and Leo Barry are gone. There could even be a little bit of 2003-era excitement that lies in the foreseeable future.

A lot of promising performances, however Hall was certainly missed especially for his second and third efforts, mopping up, passing off and general intimidation.
Good return to form by Sydney.

Thanks for the 4 points boys!!

MickyO is still magic isn't he?

Duck butt really does want to play for us.

Blind Barry's best before date is nigh. We don't need Barry Hall.

EVERYONE ups it a notch when Blind Barry doesn't play. EVERYONE takes more responsibility. ANYONE can kick a goal.

Loved a win for a change.

A wins a win, but they made that one a lot harder than it should have been. And they weren't helped by the incompetant twits in yellow. That was one of the most one way umpiring display I've seen in a long time.

                          I'll say!
I think at the end of the 3rd the free kick count was 15-5.
Some of those were extremely soft.

Kicking long into the forward line just didn't work without BBB, hopefully they work on that for next week which will be a tougher game.

Mickey O showed his class, as did ROK. We'd be much less of a team without the work rate of Jude Bolton, Kirky and Shaw.

I don't want to burst your bubble, BUT you were playing North at your home ground and we are pretty awful atm!

You were expected to win & if you had loss to my lot the knives would have been out on this board....
