A great shame..Roos and co. overreacted (paying too much attention to the ridulously over zealous melbourne media) to what was such a minor incident.
In fact ,I think the clubs public handling of Hall, over the last week, has been shameful.

No really, hard to take you seriously when every media person or general football nut here in Melbourne believe that the Club, Roos and the Leadership group have handled themselves with dignity over the whole situation.

The club gave Hall a couple of chances to get it right on the field and then allowed him the chance to make the right choice after the last on-field incident.

All the while they have remained stead fast to the teams culture and let the next batch of young players or would be recruits from other clubs how it should be done.

And is publicly humiliated by his coach and captain. I like Hally. I will miss him. But how are you measuring his "desperately wanting to play"? By his willingness to change his game style and stop hitting people and getting suspended? (whether he can is another issue entirely - and I think it might be beyond his control). By how many times he oppologises and says he has to change to his and the club's betterment? (and I do believe he means it when he says it, but might not be able to control that split second reaction which is purely instinct and impulse).

Not to defend Roosey and Kirky, but their most recent public reactions occured after a number of indiscretions on Barry's part since 2006 (or even before). Early on they were all very supportive. They lost patience with repeat offences.

As with Tadhg, why not respect Barry Hall as a player, a man and a Swan. Admire his achievements and contribution the the club they both... and we all... love and let him/them go with dignity. In my books, Barry Hall, Tadhg Kennelly, Nick Fosdike, Michael O'Loughlin and anyone else who retires this year (or are delisted or traded) will depart with my thanks and best wishes.

I can smell the incense. I had to look up the meaning of dignity. It means the state of honour or worthy of respect. No respect or honour was shown to Hall by Roos or Kirk. They went public with comments that demeaned a great footballer. I was simply pointing out the obvious fact that this year is an implosion. We have lost a key player who simply walked out on his contract. And the club did nothing to enforce its contract. And we have a great player who is squeezed out in a very humiliating fashion allegedly for the reason that he breached the rules of the competition. The rejection by a club for the misdemeanors of Hall is the heaviest penalty ever imposed by a club on a player for that type and degree of offense. I don't know of any club where this combination of support for disloyalty and rejection of a loyal player has occured. Do you?

No. But they had a say in it. Are you seriously suggesting that Roos didn't discuss it with the Sun King late last week. I've already said that there is another agenda. Which will become obvious at the end of the season. Roos, Dick and Vlad would have engaged in a stategy meeting and discussed how to manage it in the media. The AFL owns this club in more ways than one.

I take your concern on board but how is that defamatory? How does the speculation that Roos and Demetriou talked about managing the media concerning Hall damage anyone's reputation?
