    Hall Quits

    Hall to Quit

The playing future of Swans' spearhead Barry Hall will be announced in the next hour with the premiership-winning captain expected to reveal he has ended his career at the club, effective immediately.

The Swans have called a press conference at their SCG headquarters for this afternoon, which both Hall and coach Paul Roos will attend. The two parties have spent the past 10 days discussing what would be best option for both after Hall was suspended for striking Adelaide's Ben Rutten last Saturday week.

While it is unknown exactly what will be announced, and there are several ways the club and Hall can go, the Herald believes Hall has decided - not to retire from football entirely - but to amicably leave the club now, meaning one of the most popular players in the club's 27-year history in Sydney, has played his last game in the red and white.

    Well F me.

Looks like the doggies want him next year.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

If this is true I will be very upset. We all know he is a boofhead, but he was our boofhead (besides being a great player for us).

Dissapointed yes, but not that dissapointed. I really think we are more dangerous up forward without him.

you can only have so many chances can't ya!

Don't really believe the Dogs will pick him up for next year, they'd wanna be paying him pittance given the risks associated therewith and I don't believe Hall would play for peanuts given whats on offer in the ring.

Exactly. I love that boofhead. Drove me to madness sometimes but He's ours. Bugger.

Very sad. Hopefully it can all be amicable, but hard to see. As the only swan in 72 years to hold up the cup as captain on grand final day, very very sad that it ends like this.

Good luck to him whatever happens and thanks for the memories (well, the good ones anyway! )

Very very sad he's been a great player and contributor to the club wouldnt have won in 05 without him. A sad day he hardly even touched Rutten

Very sad. Such a shame that one of our team's greatest modern day players has ended their relationship with the club this way.

                Really disappointed.

A great shame..Roos and co. overreacted (paying too much attention to the ridulously over zealous melbourne media) to what was such a minor incident.
In fact ,I think the clubs public handling of Hall, over the last week, has been shameful.

Good luck and best wishes big fella.

Without meaning to sound heartless here but do we get anyone for him or are we just going to lose him and not get anyone in return? Just curious.

He's out of contract at the end of the year so i very much doubt we'd get anything for him. Best we could do is pick 90 (just to get him to his preferred destination if there are any bidders).

Agree - and he has zero chance if they win it this year - why risk upsetting the applecart? The only way they will take him is if they get bundled out easily again this year and then fall for the "must have a big forward" hype. It's a strange argument to keep hearing about the dogs - kicking goals is not the doggies problem!

If there are any pros for them, Rocket might think he can control him a bit better, (maybe with thoughts of picking up where they left off in 2002), but reckon he too will be disappointed eventually. And Hally would benefit from their better delivery into the forwards.

Cons are well known and pretty powerful! On balance, forget it!
