    will always be remembered

Without him we would not have won in 2005. I think all his problems started with 06 GF blaming himself for the loss. He was not alone and we tried to tell him at the post GF dinner ,MOL ,Jude also missed easy shots at goal and the game was one that got away. However Barry blamed himself for that loss.
He will be sadly missed, but as he said I cant guarantee something like this will not happen again even as a private individual outside of the footy ground.
Roosey will need to become very creative to overcome the problems we will have on the forward line next yr, Lets not forget Barrys contribution to this club. Agree with some other comments Wallsey etc will have to find someone else to tag big bad " ". The didnt help him with these comments. They become very damaging.

Certainly gonna miss the bugger - a great club champ and someone that brought a bit of mongrel to an otherwise very polite bunch of footballers.

I'm genuinely sad about him going especially in these circumstances - hope all goes well for him in his post-footy life.

          something I missed earlier

Another thing that I think made the decision inevitable was Kirkeys comments that he would trust him with his kids but probably not on the footy field. He should not have said this publicly (what happened to the Blood Bros motto) and instead told him to his face and kept it in house.

Absolutely F...ing disgusting actions be Roos, Kirk and the club.
I actually hope that Hall decided to enter the draft and we get nothing for him - that's the way the club treat their premiership captain, that's what the club deserve.

              Massive role.

The media, and some Swans supporters as well.

Agree - but it's not like it's the first time....thought they would at least let him play out the year- or how about 1 more game!?!

He is out of contract, so we won't get anything for him anyway. Take your dribble and go elsewhere.

I was of the understanding that most media appearances were approved by the clubs.

If so, it would be interesting to know why the Swans allowed Hall to appear in the media and then discuss this incident.
Then they turn around and pretty much boot him out.
Embarrassing for Hall, but maybe that's what they wanted.....

No really, hard to take you seriously when every media person or general football nut here in Melbourne believe that the Club, Roos and the Leadership group have handled themselves with dignity over the whole situation.

The club gave Hall a couple of chances to get it right on the field and then allowed him the chance to make the right choice after the last on-field incident.

All the while they have remained stead fast to the teams culture and let the next batch of young players or would be recruits from other clubs how it should be done.

But I know as a fact the club is largely run by the marketing department. With the Swans image is EVERYTHING. Any more Hall misdemenours would have started looking bad for the Swans brand as a whole. Would have damaged the cred of AFL as well in a fragile Sydney market.

Sports clubs are more than just marketing. If the Marketing Department runs the Swans they should ease up on the political correctness and stop letting Caroline & Rebecca Wilson write their scripts. The occasional spontaneous bad boy act can do wonders for sales.

And while we?re at it Marketing Department - well done with the membership debacle, do your research first (Advt&Mkt 101) and understand your product and customer. And thanks for not bringing Ben Cousins to the Club, the Football Department must have been dying for him.

Despite his mis-givings in the past year of footy. Barry Hall has helped to bring a premiership to the club, increase our supporter base and has given much enjoyment to members and fans alike.

Thanks Barry for all the memories! You will be missed!

Could't agree more, also with some other statements made in this thread, our forwardline without Hall looks soft, where is the next power forward coming from and haow do we replace Magic? Vez looks likeley, will Jesse White play forward, would Mike PYke make a CHF? Hard questions to be asked at the club for the remainder of the year
