Well, no, I guess he isn't. But he's a pretty good forward. And we (used to) be able to market quite successfully around a not so good looking but effective forward!
Robamiee - Rusling ... hmmm ... possibly more upside to him, but Roughy a bit more proven and a safer bet.
Roughead the one to go after (albeit with the small problem of a year to run on his contract - will need to be creative to work it out - any ideas?).
Forces at work at Glenferrie might see them willing to trade - salary cap pressures, crumbling of the dynasty before the family members even really got to enjoy the trappings (all the talk that next year was to be the one and last year was just a bonus is a bit of revisionist self help talk to keep from panicking), a bit tired of always being considered second banana behind Buddy ...
And the perfect marketing opportunity - we've cleared out one rough head to make room for another! As much as we loved Bazza, he was never picturesque!
Yes, salary cap pressure will be a problem at Hawthorn and they may have to let some players go but you can bet your bottom dollar it won't be Roughy. Good KPPs are worth every single cent.
We're going to have to be creative with how we use our forwards next year. None of our key forwards will have a set position. I think it would be best for our forwards to have their role determined by who they're playing on. For example, say we were playing Collingwood. Presti takes White, Maxwell takes Barlow, Harry O takes Goodes and Nathan Brown takes Johnston. White and Johnston would try to push up the ground and run off their opponents in Presti and Brown, both of whom are at their best in or around the goal square. Goodes and Barlow play out of the goalsquare, keeping the rebounder O'Brien and expert-third-man-up Maxwell out of the play.
While our key forwards next year will be very raw, this comes with a hidden bonus: none of our players are settled, which means they will be flexible. Goodes' versatility only adds to this. If Roos is innovative enough, things will work for us.
What's with Roughead and Rusling? Let's develop and use our own talent. Raw for sure but how have Franklin and Roughead developed - by being given game time and responsibility. Out of White, Barlow, Johnston, Grundy and even Currie together with Goodes, Vesp. etc. at least our forward line would be unpredicable. If it was dysfunctional, then what's new! Even with BBB playing our forward line is dysfunctional.

Did you quote the wrong post? I never mentioned Roughead or Rusling!
With Barry Hall, Leo Barry,Tadgh Kennelly, Nick Fozdick and the Grand Micky O
all definitely out we at least have some big room in our salary cap! Just need to spend wisely
The youngsters where impressive enough last weekend to keep the hope alive
