I think Roos and Healy talk a lot on the phone so he may be expressing the club's optimism, which is heartening. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Well goodness me. Our list is in turmoil! Should we notify the footy department? Do you think they know? Because Melbourne media obviously have the good mail on this and we don't.....pa thet ic.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I've finally watched the show and some of the comments in this threads are a bit strange.
It felt to me that they had asked the swans to provide (or the swans themsleves had provided) a list of names of their future talent. While Healy is one of the few in the media to have some idea of the swans game, players etc, it seemed to me that while he had a list of names the comments went no further than an acknowledgement that Sydney themselves think they have a bunch of talented youngsters.
Even Healy wasnt able to give comment on whether he thought they were talented. As for Sheahan and Hird , they didnt have a clue, nor do I think they care. The only reason the Swans were mentioned at the top of the OTC run sheet was so Hirdy could delight in how well his Dons were going - talk turned to them within 30 seconds of the game being raised (the Dons are ahead of where he thought they'd be etc).
Gerard (as usual) provides most insight into Swans, but even his talk last night was pretty thin - "we need a key forward". Well, knock us over with another feather! What a scoop! Do ya reckon - we need a key forward - really?!?! Who knew?
Agree with him 100% about Roughhead though.
The (little) talk through the show about the Swans was superficial (as usual) and included a "highlights" run of our missed goals on the weekend. Gee - thanks sooo much for that Fox! Just what we needed to see!Comment

Simon...your point about us having played youth "but no one noticed" is actually as bad as it is good.....
Not one of our young players has actually done much to get noticed.....Jack has had a couple of good games....IN TWO YEARS.....Moore etc...have done some good thing s from time to time.....Vez is the only clear ready to go quality at the moment.
Other clubs, especially Collingwood, Melbourne and Brisbane, play new young players and they almost always have real impact often straight away.
One day Nick Smith might (realistically) be a good player and Bird might (realistically) be a game winner....but there's no way to tell at the moment"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Your response is a bit misleading. Please explain how my comment is untrue and misleading? I am interested as to how you interpreted what was said.Comment

There was no indication on the show that they didn't care. As discussed already, why would they have known in any detail about players just playing their first season or two who have not been standouts.
Just because they are someone's opinions doesn't mean they cannot be incorrect or misleading.Comment

Surely with the information so easily on hand on the internet it would take ten minutes to look on the swans website or even on RWO for reserves reports and be able to say " well white has kicked 20 goals in the last two weeks and Hanneberry has played for the past few weeks while on school holidays and has been one of the best for the reserves". I dont expect them to have an actual opinion on whether Hanneberry is any good but some sort of knowledge on the topic would at least help to allay the ignorance they constantly seem to show. Maybe they could even save themselves the time by getting one of the production assistants on the show to do it if they felt their time was much too precious to deal with such things.Comment
