As much as Goodesy may have had his sooky boots on yesterday (to his credit he did try to change them but the sook had set in by then) the reality is that Shaw was the one who made the mistake (I never thought I'd see a day where he ran too far) and whilst I can see how he would feel that a forward failing to lead contributed to it, Goodes is his captain.
It wasn't that long ago that a spray to your skipper would result in a week in the magoos, that little exchange yesterday left me thinking that having 3 captains and a large leadership group tarnishes the respect shown to the position.Comment

I wasn't going to bother with this comment and I haven't read the rest of the thread but...
the gulf in class between geelong/hawthorn/st kilda/west bulldogs and ourselves is as big as it has been in the past decade and we are seriously a bottom four side.
we will struggle against richmond. as we did in the first round - but this time i expect us to be beaten and probably well beaten.Comment

Eye candy indeed!! Why do you think I bags those seats each game? He's a top bloke.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

To be fair, he has significant positives too. Very good mark and generally good kick. I'm not writing him off - hopefully with an extended run in the team he can prove the doubters wrong.Comment

Thorntons been played back & forward in those 7 games and hasn't had a god crack, hard to settle and show us what he's capable of which is some very good marking and clean disposal. Hopefully he gets some consecutive game time and proves his worth.
Yesterday was crap all round, clearly the weather had a big influence on the game. I think players are pretty spoilt with the weather and conditions as it rarely rains in Australia (not counting Hobart and Perth storms the other week) - just not used to it.Comment

You did surprise me, you are usually so positive about the youngsters in other posts.

By the way, did you know today was "No Knickers Monday" for the winners of the netball grand final.Comment

Knickers, are you seriously saying that players struggle in cold weather? Perhaps it was the supporters who suffered with the cold but I have never heard of players doing such. Another poster said it only rained a little and there appeared to be not a lot of wind. May I put forward that the skills coaches of both sides will be looking for new jobs come September.
By the way, did you know today was "No Knickers Monday" for the winners of the netball grand final.! I think that players haven't got much of a clue how to play wet footy these days. Seriously how often does it rain? Add to that the Victoria teams play indoors half the time! It was a miserable, slippery uninspiring game with goals efficiency at around 50% which always makes things seem worse, all that effort to miss!!!!!
Not a fan of NKM - even for charity! Only allowed on Monday following GF win.Comment
