That might be hasty. It could be our last win of 2009. And who knows next year . . . ?

It wasn't that long ago that a spray to your skipper would result in a week in the magoos, that little exchange yesterday left me thinking that having 3 captains and a large leadership group tarnishes the respect shown to the position.
Some truth in the sentiments. BUT Goodes staying behind his opponent and hoping that shaw might kick it 70 metres accurately was just a laugh

I wasn't going to bother with this comment and I haven't read the rest of the thread but...

the gulf in class between geelong/hawthorn/st kilda/west bulldogs and ourselves is as big as it has been in the past decade and we are seriously a bottom four side.

we will struggle against richmond. as we did in the first round - but this time i expect us to be beaten and probably well beaten.

Just watched the game as was travelling yesterday.

Who do I send the invoice to for those three hours back?

He's a big girls blouse. As soon as it started to rain he popped under a tarp. It was on for young and old then!! I even offered to come and sit under the tarp with him ... to keep an eye on the clock, of course. It was very, very funny.

Eye candy indeed!! Why do you think I bags those seats each game? He's a top bloke.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I am one who is yet to be convinced that he will still be on the list in 2-3 years. For one thing, he is slow. He doesn't look comfortable in traffic. His defensive positioning often contributes to him being outmarked - as recently as the Carlton game. And when forward he is yet to show he can get it enough to help us kick a score.

To be fair, he has significant positives too. Very good mark and generally good kick. I'm not writing him off - hopefully with an extended run in the team he can prove the doubters wrong.

You did surprise me, you are usually so positive about the youngsters in other posts.
Thorntons been played back & forward in those 7 games and hasn't had a god crack, hard to settle and show us what he's capable of which is some very good marking and clean disposal. Hopefully he gets some consecutive game time and proves his worth.
Yesterday was crap all round, clearly the weather had a big influence on the game. I think players are pretty spoilt with the weather and conditions as it rarely rains in Australia (not counting Hobart and Perth storms the other week) - just not used to it.

Knickers, are you seriously saying that players struggle in cold weather? Perhaps it was the supporters who suffered with the cold but I have never heard of players doing such. Another poster said it only rained a little and there appeared to be not a lot of wind. May I put forward that the skills coaches of both sides will be looking for new jobs come September.

By the way, did you know today was "No Knickers Monday" for the winners of the netball grand final.

The appalling mistake-filled game cannot be blamed on the rain. Not much rain fell (only a few mls) and that was only after half-time.....but it was a miserable day and COLD... max of 7.

I seriously am ! I think that players haven't got much of a clue how to play wet footy these days. Seriously how often does it rain? Add to that the Victoria teams play indoors half the time! It was a miserable, slippery uninspiring game with goals efficiency at around 50% which always makes things seem worse, all that effort to miss!!!!!
Not a fan of NKM - even for charity! Only allowed on Monday following GF win.
