I dislike St Kilda just as I dislike St george. Both are favourites to win the comp in AFL and NRL and quite frankly I hope both choke as per their norm when it counts.

I'd like to see the Bulldogs win (in both codes) as they both deserve it (for different reasons).

I hope we get a good turnout, I remember the game in 2004, we played out of our skin and just owned the Saints. Didn't bury them but still won convincingly. We got 36k that day I think.

I like The Saints. Big Nick is a superstar, the way he trains and prepares on game day is quite inspiring. It is nigh impossible to prevent him having a blinder ATM. Good luck to em, even if we blitz them on Sat nite, which is incredibly unlikely, given the that Milne is also in scintillating touch.
If they go all the way, they deserve it. The Dogs are hot n cold.

Giving away a slowish midfielder/forward with erratic disposal and questionable stamina does not warrant the amount of weeping RWO has shed over him.

And they've had bugger all out of Dempster (with respect to him, through no fault of his own - doing a knee and 12 months sucks).

Sure - it is sad to see premiership players cleared out, but the hand wringing over them being traded should have long since ended. It is surely now time to just think of them as members of an exclusive club with an ever widening membership! Would they have made a skerrick of difference to us if they were still here? Nup. Nada. Nothin!

Anyway, back to the question at hand. There is not a single measure on which we should reasonably think the Swans will win. Except that our team wins more often than most when backs are to the wall and all seems dire. May the stars align and the Swans do an '04 on em! Go Swans!
It's alot easier to play better when you are surrounded by classy players who play the team game.I saw the Saints on Sat night and will be surprised if Dempster holds his place. On the other hand Schnieder and Milne are deadly when on tune.As likeable as Maguire seems to be,I have heard he does not have the speed or turning ability he had pre his injuries.

I will go to the aftermatch and enjoy Bradley's company and see if his shirt is hanging out again. I will then go home, calmly, and eat myself silly. Such is the life of a Swan - at present. It is the calm before the storm. Keep breathing Primmy, keep breathing.
I am quoting myself because do any of you remember the 2003 PF against Port! We had a snowflakes chance, and we creamed them. How many takers are there that we can replicate this! None? No, didn't think so.

This thread should be retitled 'Parallel Universe'. That people actually think we will beat St Kilda beggars belief. We only stumbled over the line against the Dees reserve grade side. I'm convinced our next victory won't come until 2010. If we beat St Kilda I'll turn up at work on Monday wearing a dress.

                                Typical Mardi Gras-attending Swans supporter.

I don't expect us to win and a complete caning wouldn't surprise. But I reckon the players will be thinking of this as their big game of the year and hopefully go all out. They are likely to fail. But I can taste the possibility of that wonderful sense of joy I had in the last Q of the 2005 Saints final - and the 2003 Port final. The stakes were big in the Saints game so that made it special. But for the Port game I expected the result to be go the way most think Saturday night will go - the best team in the comp to give us a hiding. So I didn't fly over as I had thought of doing. Rather I went to a friends place with wine and chips. The Swans (esp Goodes) made the minor Premiers look very second rate (remember Goodes rushing a behind and the commentator declaring "the Swans are kicking goals at both ends"?). A lot of players stood tall that day - Hall's rucking in the final quarter was magnificent - and I loved the team even more.

There's only a slight chance I'll leave the SCG feeling like that on Saturday night. But the pure joy of the Cats semi victory, beating the unbeaten Saints there and winning against all-conquering Brisbane there makes every trip to the SCG a pilgrimage. I hope to see you at the party after the unlikeliest win of the year.

And, if we win, I bet everyone here will be watching The Winners and On the Couch on Monday to see the experts backpedal. But I bet they don't and instead say "that was the loss the Saints had to have - now there are perfectly set up for the flag. I can't see the Swans winning again anytime soon, if ever."
