Sorry to spoil the party guys, but what are we going to offer the clubs who these players play for?

We can't offer cash, and offering a high draft pick would be unwise to say the least given what's going to happen in the next few years.

So, what else is there to sell? Less than you might think. Sydney might be near the bottom of the league in terms of Tradeable Players With Real Value.

I thought the story in the Oz was interesting because it sounded like it came directly from the Swans. For sure there's a couple of smokies - at least - win there. And in the last two years we reeled in Mattner and Shaw - but we certainly didn't start talking about them after round 17.

If nothing else, this is the first shot in what could be a long war ahead of trade week. It's a shallow draft, and not many trades got done last year. You'd have to expect us to be active trade players. Maybe they're serious about those Kennedy and Seaby, maybe they're trying to flush them out, or maybe in the case of the Hawks they're just giving them the Jimmy Brits.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the responses.

The thing is, both Ball and Lake are out of contract and the end of the season.
IF the dogs want Hall, we could ask for Lake trade, both clubs knowing that either player could walk straight into the pre-season draft.

Lake is on the lowest ebb of the yearly salary at The Buldogs. He is on 175,000 a year now but he has been told he is worth $400,000 so with the Bulldogs apparantly ready to resign him they will have to fit him under their salary cap. There is a negative with Lakes game style and that is that he doesn't follow the running forwards up the ground.
            I wouldn't look at Ball.Too many lowsides.

Agree with Simon, it's a pipedream, none of these players will be in the red and white in 2010

If by some minute chance they are, then chances are we've traded early picks and one of our quality young players. Not a smart move IMO

I can't believe any team would be interested in Seaby he struggles at WAFL level

Why not have a crack at Matt McGuire from St. Kilda? Don't think he's too old and he's obviously out of favor at the Saints. A big key defender is what we could really use as we don't seem to have any coming through in the 2's. Surely Ross Lyon owes us after giving them Schnieder and Dempster for peanuts a couple of years ago and they'll probably go on to be 2 time premiership players!

One would suggest that McGuire is a target number 1 as a) he is likely to go and b) St Kilda would not likely to play hard ball with him if he nominated a club he wanted to go, hence the trade could work for the other team.

I think what happens with McGuire all hinges on Max Hudghton if the saints win the flag and Maxy retires a la Shane Crawford Mcguire may well decide to stay with the saints in the knowledge that he has Max's spot. McGuire would also probably want to win a premiership which he would be a good chance with the saint.

If he does decide to go word is the Hawks and Carlton would both be pretty keen on a quality tall

Agree, but players take it pretty hard being left out of a GF and he may just think that it's time for a change to re-start his career.

Both the Hawks and Carlton would be hard to beat on a trade deal as they are in the window of offering draft picks for players, but future salary cap pressure would also hurt their postion as well, which we have up out sleeve.

                            LOL Hall for Lake.

Why don't we just ask Hawthorn for Buddy Franklin in exchange for Henry Playfair while we're at it.
