IF the dogs want Hall, we could ask for Lake trade, both clubs knowing that either player could walk straight into the pre-season draft.
Lake could go in the pre-season draft, but doesn't mean we would get him. Plenty of other clubs will have picks ahead of us and we'd have to hope he out-prices himself from them. The same probably can't be said of Hally as few clubs have shown interest in him so the Dogs would have a fair chance of snaring him.

The point is, Lake could ask for a trade to the swans, if not, he could put a price on his head and go into the draft. the dogs wouldn't want to lose him for nothing.

The dogs would need to make a trade, so yes, we could trade Hall.
But would need to add a sweetner, as Hall has little to no value, unless another suitor arrives.

Second that!!! Glad to see this string got a bit light hearted

Goodsey said the other day when the whole Huntgate defection fiasco was going on that his dream recruit would be Labron James. He makes our entire football department budget every 5 minutes....so not an option (I know your tongue was firmly planted in cheek Goodsey...thanks for the laugh).!

He also on a serious note mentioned that Greg Inglis would be his choice of NRL recruit. I don't watch much league...as i find it boring as bats@@t (26 fridges and washing machines running at each other and falling over for 80 minutes), but he has amazing ability (quick, good hands), and we could probably give him a payrise and still maintain a budget saving. Other than that....lets go the good pics and save the cash for 2011 I reckon!

Steven Salopek seems to be on the outer for some reason but he is a great midfielder who always finds the ball.Maybe we could do a trade with PP as we do have a few ex patriots on our list and Salopek is not a South Australian.

Good in the wet as well.

I think we need to trade for a key backman. There are some very good players in this area who are on the fringes of their respective clubs atm. Wilkes from West Coast, Goldsack from Collingwood, McGuire from the Saints, Roe from Brisbane etc.

Lake is a bit too old for my liking.

Some Richmond fans were offering us Nathan Foley but I don't think we would be so lucky. I know that it is suggested that he gets tagged out of games but I always remember him impressing me from the state of origin game.

Trading is exciting. I hope that the afl does manage to introduce some limited from of free agency which maintains a balance between flexibility and the interests of both clubs and players.

BTW: Anyone noticed Cuz's form is pretty good lately.

funny that considering Roos i believe said we were looking for some outside run...
Arguably Richmond's best player at the moment.

Also noticd in this thread we seem to be focusing on KP backmen...WHY???

We are losing the most exp'd forward line in the comp and have aN OLDER midfield to boot..

if we are going to spend up then we should be looking at a quality forward and midfielder worth about 400k each...

please not seaby as some mentioned struggles in the WAFL

Getting Salopek on the cheap would be the definition of irony.

Have a search at any number of 'geez, McVeigh is useless' threads written in the 2005-7 period. The wisdom of a number of posters was that in the (generally weak) 2002 draft we erred in picking up McVeigh at #5, when we should have picked Salopek (who went at pick #6 to the Pahhhhhr).

There aren't so many people saying that now.

The absolute last thing in the world that we need, is another midfielder, though. Especially a mid-sized one.

I really like Matt Maguire. Not least for his graciousness after that punch from Baz and I hope he gets back to playing senior footy.
Saying that, I think he is too bigger risk injury wise - would prefer we looked at other options.

I may have missed it in this big thread, but do we have a single thing we can trade for any of these players?

We have list spots and salary cap space (at least I hope we do) - that's a good start.

But opposition clubs need players or draft picks.
