So proud of the kids and blokes tonight. Everyone on a high leaving the ground. Lots of them found out what could be achieved if they worked together and for each other. That kid Hanners is exceptional. I have more to say but have to start breathing again.

Very proud fan tonight, they keep that type of game up and we wont be out of the finals for long.

Not sure if I can wath the replay, but I might have to, so I can confirm or dismiss what I thought was awful umpiring at times. Hard to know when you are in the moment I guess.

Talk about feeling proud and devastated at the same time. Makes you think that the future of the club is not as dire as first feared. All the kids stood up tonight. Even Barlow was terrific tonight. This game should give him the confidence that if you put your body in you are good enough to play at this level.

However the same pride can't be felt by the Umpiring fraternity. They ought to hang their heads in shame with their inconsistencies tonight.

Outstanding isn't he...imagine what he's going to be like with a full preseason behind him.

The result was deflating but I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

What was up with LRT rucking in the final quarter? Was Pyke injured? It was hard to tell at the game.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Unbelievable game and a fantastic effort from the boys. I thought the umpiring as usual was all over the place, but that missed free kick (I think it was Grundy that got taken out) with about 90 seconds or a couple of minutes to play was a terrible mistake from them. Great effort from the boys, and we have some good young players coming through. Hannebery looks to be one who could be anything, very promising indeed!

How disappointing, it came down to closing it down for one more stoppage.

I thought the big improvement was the field kicking. They hit blokes on the chest for a change. Becasue their passing was more accurate they could move it on quicker and the game wasn't slowed down. Set shots really slaughtered us. We needed that scoreboard pressure in the 3rd quarter and if we had kicked 2 of those goals of the 3 we missed from set shots, then who knows.

Some observations on the game plan, which was clearly so different:

We got players to the fall of the ball in the forward 50. Hoo bloody ray.
MCVeigh wasn't a tagger and that makes a huge difference.
Jack seemed to be given a free rein and looked a much better footballer.
We moved it on much quicker.
We used the corridor and unbelievably had players breaking to space, particularly in the last Q.
We actually broke even from centre clearances and that made a huge impact on getting us back in the game.
We even looked quicker by playing the style we did tonight and got to contests which we haven't done for weeks.
Barlow actually stood up when the chips were down.
Grundy has arrived and is providing that tall defender we were sorely missing.
                We had some flair.
After tonight you can't argue that the game is 90% above the shoulders.
Where has that intensity been all year and it is not as if St Kilda played badly.
Jared Moore, can you play like you did in the last Q for 4 quarters every week. He looked like he was playing for his career.
Can we play Jake Orreal next week in place of Mike Pyke, please.

                  LRT was the better option.

Well that's a sorry state of affairs! I'd assumed Pyke must have been injured.

I've been on Barlow's back more than anyone - softness etc., but he was really good tonight.

He is also A THUMPING KICK. I love it when he gives is a massive roost into the forward line or drills a footpass like a tracer bullet.

They need to get PLugger to spend a few sessions with White. If he can get his kicking sorted, he'll kick regular bags.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

How about the one against White to Blake. The replay showed it was shoulder to shoulder. Horrible decision. What got me was the number of head high tackles on us that were ignored.

Disappointing not to win, but fantastic effort and more importantly for the long term, pleased with how the team is starting to look. Hopefully we can really develop a more open game plan in the future so we get more chances to see the guys play more freely, which seems to work so much better.

Concerned about Bird's longevity in the game though.

What I liked about tonight also was we didn't go to the short lead up forward, but went to our key players in White, Goodes and MOL. Fairly basic stuff with small forwards running to their feet.

And one big thing is we seemed to have players running to space forward of the ball for a change.

                                What a disappointment!!!!!!!
Still a great effort i am officially on the Jack and Barlow bandwagon i honestly think Jack is our most underrated young player tries to shut down an opponent every week to varying success but still gets a bit of the ball when he does shows his blistering pace often kicks long and gets a fair few shots at goal, love the way he goes about it.
And for Barlow the big cheese keeps getting better and better loving his work, look at his stats for the last 4 weeks as good as any young player in the league averaging 20 touches!!!
Hanners is so exciting did he have a wrestle this week? third game in a row he has shown real aggression towards the opposition without giving away a free kick. BBH could learn a thing or two from him.
                                Grundy great.

The most pleasing thing for me was that we played really well without relying on Kirk, O'Keefe, Goodes to do all the hard work the young players really picked up the slack!

Best loss every much happier than last week
