Fantastic game. The finals type intensity, in the last quarter particularly, was like the Swans of 05/06. I didn't want Crouch in the team, but he put in one of his best, most annoying, tagging jobs for years. Still would of preferred Vespremi over Ablett, as it would of been a great learning experience for him.
This was a great game for all the young guys to play in, and they all played well. I hope Roos gives most of the fit youngsters from the 2's a run over the next 4 weeks, there maybe more surprises just waiting for their chance.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... Welcome to the culture of mediocrity.
Football is a ruthless industry. Sydney is a ruthless market.
The standing ovation they got at HALF TIME was typical of the theatre-goer Sydney home crowd, as is this "proud" rubbish.
In missing easy shots for goal etc, we lost a game that we had several opportunities to win. Proud is not the overwhelming emotion."As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.Comment

1. St. Kilda were either being disrespectful and not playing their best, or that they're starting to tire and the arrogance of not resting players is going to cost them when they don't want it to (like in the Finals).
2. That we have a developing list which is going to be better for games like this one. Skills need alot more work though. Missing set shots is a worry.
3. That playing contested football yields better results for us than when our players ease up and allow them space (the 3rd qtr lost it for us). Time to "Harden the F up!".
You're right about Sydney being a ruthless market. However, its rebuilding time and a little patience is required. The Sydney market "Fickle factor" will just have to be tolerated. Its been overcome before. Premiers again in 3-5 years.
I was wrapped with the effort!Comment

Proud, absolutely. A magnificent effort from the veterans and the kids and - perhaps most importantly - from that middle rung, the Grundies, LRTs, McVeighs etc, that may actually define our destiny for the next few years.
Bloody fabulous effort.Comment

I am happy that we did so well against clearly the best team in the comp at the moment, but disappointed that we weren't able to nail the win.
I would be pissed if we didn't try our best to win, the fact that we match the Saints is more about individual match ups along with numerous players being in the right state of mind.
Having nothing to lose probably played a big part in the game as well.
If everyone recalls, we matched up pretty well against the Saints round 1 as well, losing by only 15 points.
So in the end, it was an exciting game to watch, with a disappointing end.
The perception of "we did our best, it was a good loss" doesn't wash with me.The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

It was a great game of football and the best crowd involvement/atamosphere I've experienced for some time.
I woke up during the night and felt this wave of disappointment that we didn't kick the point instead of them, but apart from that, thought the whole team played their hearts out. Fantastic effort!Comment

Every single Swan on the field was bloody fantastic last night.....effort was massive. I was definitely very very proud....
Sure there were gettable missed shots, but the pace of the game was also frenetic.....I would like to see some of the fickle Sydney critics on this site and their composure after running and bumping their arses off for 2 hours....Also, if you don't think that assessment is enough, just look at the collective injury toll through the game on both teams...some pretty hardened athletes hurt a fair bit, which is a good indication that it was as tough as it gets!
Well done boys! True Bloods!"We talked five times. I called him twice, and he called me twice."   :D

That's probably my biggest frustration from last night. Not that we lost, not that we missed gettable shots at goal, but that we seem to play at the intensity levels of our opponents rather than coming out switched on week in week out.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
