Been a while since that came out.
You could really feel it, even coming through the tv. First time in several years you had the crowd having a real influence on the game. Great stuff!

In the last minute or so it was noticeable that the whole outer was up standing such was their excitement at what was unfolding before them.

On the question of the crowd influencing a game, yet another player said the other week that while playing they really don't hear the crowd noise.

Oh, and to up the ante, I'm at 120% supporter! Do I hear 130%?

First time back after 5 weeks out of touch. A fantastic game, pulsating heart-attack stuff, superb footy and clangers from both teams, usual umpire problems and hope for the future. And we lost, unfortunately - it happens. But i have seldom felt so grateful to the team for trying to the last drop in the tank. A wonderful effort. Do it again for Micky's 300th.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

In that case I'll go and crack onto Megan Gale which should earn a great deal of admiration considering the spectacular failure it would be.

I started the big one, then tried to get another going a little later on.

What I am proud of is the fact that this side, no matter who it is they're playing, whether it be the team languishing down the bottom, or the unstoppable team up the top of the ladder, they go into every game with no fear, they go into every game thinking they can win and play accordingley, and saturday night was just another example. I couldn't think of a better side in the AFL to support, when we're hot we are brilliant to watch, and when we're ordinary, we still play consistent good football. Just imagine what this site would be like if we were Richmond or Fremantle supporters, I have no doubt 25% of the people here would have changed sides by now.

Anyway, on to the game on Saturday night...How good is Hanneberry??? The boy has some skill, I think it was primmy who said to me when I asked what to expect from this kid, "there will be a passage of play where you wont notice him and he will be the link up player" or words to that effect, well primmy, I did notice him on Saturday night and boy does the kid have some skill, a definite keeper. LRT was great, Grundy was outstanding and Cheese was very good as well. Saw patches of brilliance fron Goodes, sorry to say but we are still carrying MOL(not that I mind), Jude should never be dropped, and Ablett....well even I have been calling for his head in recent weeks, but his performance was brilliant, hopefully he has found his 03-06 form again.

All in all, an enjoyable game, as I have said in a previous post, I was at a friends place having a BBQ and drinks and watched it with 4 Saints supporters, all of whom were saying things like..."I expect this game to be over half way into the 2nd quarter" and things like that, All I kept saying was..."oooooh, I can sense an upset boys, I can sense an upset", let me tell you, those 4 were nervous wrecks in that last quarter, turning on so many of their players. It was a joy to watch. Boy wern't they relieved when the final siren went.

I thought the idea of any thread was to express a comment on a subject not to deride someone elses opinion as unworthy or to label people some kind of uneducated champagne sipper because of the opinoin they express (personally I love a sav blanc and I love getting an invitation to a private box with free food and booze, so happy to accept the champagne sipping label).

Funny that this was the thread as hadnt looked at RWO since last week but my first thought of saturday night was how proud I was of the boys efforts.

It doesnt mean I support them any less but to being proud normally comes when someone exerts themselves to a greater level than you thought them capable. Unless they do that every week, to be honest I cant be proud of them each week, it doesnt mean I dont support them it just that to me being proud is a different emotion.

Similarly I would be very proud if they won all four of their final games and not so proud if they lost to Richmond by one point next week.

Now I know that's crap. One of the Monkee's mother's invented liquid paper.

Why do you find it so hard to believe I started up a cheer??

One day, you should come and sit next to me at a game. Ask around .... it'll be an experience your ear drums will never, ever forget.

Thanks for starting up the "Syyydneee" chant Annie. I'm sure the players hear it. What a fantastic night. Slightly marred by the St K supporters around me. They started off all chatty and smiley but by half time were turning v nasty. While we were giving the standing ovation at half time these tools were yelling abuse at our players and using the big "arm gestures". (they were calling our boys "mercenaries"). So, I was very glad of the huge response of the fans to drown them out. They weren't gracious winners either.
PS who is responsible for letting Schneider go ? wish he'd been ours on sat. night.

I love the Sydney chant. It's spine tingling. Other supporters try it for other teams, but it just doesn't have the same "feel".
