Cheese had a patchy game, off the man at times, but some really good field kicking to find a man while being held/tackled, quick to the ball when it fell and good gather off the ground. I'm happy to see him out there and getting experience, getting better. None of our blokes had a bad game.
Jack had a hard night on Ablett (don't most people?) but will be better for it, and Ablett at present just has the sheer body strength that gives an edge at crucial moments. Otherwise he played well and is still an exciting prospect.
Looking forward to next year.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

His defensive game is ordinary to say the least. However, he found the ball and used it generally pretty well. Gave us a bit of spark when he had it. I get the feeling Roos is pushing him down into the back half to teach him some of the finer points of looking after an opponent. He certainly wasn't a passenger.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

The team was competitive all night against a power outfit.
The young guys all acquitted well. Leo looked out of his depth and speed is never his forte. Losing Ablett early held back the rotations for most of the game so we did not have much in the tank for the last 15 minutes.
Give Hannerbary and Co a proper pre season and watch the Swans fly in 2010.Comment

Did anyone get a count on howmany Swans were called by wrong names during the Channel 10 coverage tonight.
Clear mistakes.
Heath Shaw must have picked up votes he was mentioned several times - no mean feat playing two games in a day.
Does Leo look like Jude ?
Only what we have come to expect from the "experts".Comment

It was a fairly nice night.
Geelong are beautiful to watch, there was a passage of play where they went into a mini huddle in the forward line at either a stoppage or after they'd won a free kick- Johnson ran through it, around it, through it, through it then BAM sprinted on a lead and it got him a metre on Craig and that was enough for him to end up with a fairly comfortable mark (he then crossed it to a Cat who won a free kick against Kirk in a marking contest and then slotted the goal). Clearly a set play, and it was wonderfully executed.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Mighty effort by Sydney, Cats missed a lot of goals they should have nailed tho.
So a lot had to go right to win the game in the last 15 mins.
GAJ must be the most difficult player to tackle in the comp. even when someone does get a grip on him he still breaks free.
Some gutsy defensive efforts by our backs, Leo probably not ready for senior footy after such a long layoff.
Might have got the job done with McVeigh playing.
Remarkable how close Sydney have taken the two stand out teams.

Swans need some Core strength training like Geelong. It's amazing how well their players stand up in tackles. It was annoying to watch but players like Corey, Ablett, Bartel and Ling have amazing core strength,Official Driver Of The "Who Gives A @@@@ As The Player Will Get Delisted Anyway" Bandwagon.

The thing I found most insteresting is how average the Cats looked when the Swans manned them up and shut down their run.
I really thought the guys took it up to them and were unlucky not to get a win. Great effort."My theory is that the universe is made out of stupidity because it's more plentiful than hydrogen" - Frank ZappaComment

At least two geelong supporters on the train home agreed that at a few times over the night they were really worried they'd lose it (one of them was here in 2005 and just couldn't go through that again) and that Cameron Ling fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
I'm very disappointed that they didn't dig a bit deeper and do it for Goodesy - the game was there for the taking.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Just watching the replay now, it didn't come on until 8pm, WA time. But I knew the score anyway. How this game got away from us I will never know.
But I am really looking forward to next year, when our young guys get a few more games and a full pre-season. The boys were awesome tonight (where have this team been all year???) and even though we won't make the finals, would be good to be pain in the rear end to teams already in the 8 by beating them.
Roll on 2010, The Year of the Red and White Swan!!!I might have a slight drinking problem. My husband asked me to toast some bread for him...so I raised my wine glass and said "Here's to bread!"Comment
