On the Hall front... I read Eade has now entered the fray, joining the chorus with Joker Fantasy...."we won't budge from a 4th round pick, happy to see him go to the draft.. blah blah blah.."Glad to see our mob are remaining tight lipped. I now really, really hope another club gets involved, it would be a joy to watch the attempted save of face, whilst ferociously backpedalling .
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

this is going to be the most interesting trade/draft period in years - normally they are dull non events and I dont take much notice, but this year there is alot happeneing. Bring it on!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

It's the same every year - lots of speculation pre-trading period, and then by the end of it only about 8 deals get done, 6 of them between 1.30pm and 2pm on the Friday. Also the odd story of a deal falling apart because the AFL fax machine blew up.

oh come on - talk it up a bit - you never know something actually exciting might happen this year! (apart from the AFL's fax machine blowing up!)

I would really like to be a fly on the wall, I always wondered how they manage to fill up 5 days worth of 'trading'. Can you imagine it:

Sydney recruiting team: We want a 2nd round pick for Barry
WB recruiting team: Haha, we'll give you our 4th rounder.
            Sydney: No way, you're dreaming
            WB: Hmm, okay...
Sydney: So, nice weather down here in Melbourne....

I reckon it's an excuse for a coterie of ex-players to get together and reminisce about their playing days.

You want excitement? Forget Fev and the others and recruit Lovett and Jetta. Fans will be glued to the match watching the exciting things these two could do to our otherwise staid team

Yep that discussion is all over by 9.05am on day one then they all get on the piss for the rest of the week and about midday on the friday they all realise that they are there to do some trading and they rush around like blue arse flies for the five minutes it actually takes to actually do the deal.

Now if this exploding fax was in Demetriou's office (or even the rules committee ) then that would be exciting.

There's expected to be about 20 players change clubs apparently.

Compared to previous years I'm actually expecting more trades to occur because it's going to be the last draft before GC enters the fray, it means all the teams will be trying to get the best out of it, so I wouldn't be surprised if we actually get some trades during trade week for once.

Now that's a thought! Does anyone use fax anymore?

Roos remembers that players are actual people, and that he promised to take care of BBB. May be some fun and games this week, but in the end the Swans will make sure Bazza gets to the Doggies.

Well, that is the excuse Roos can use when the Swans relent on wanting the 2nd round pick. "We wanted to do the right thing for Baz".

Usually there's one big deal that has to happen and everything follows from that. This year there are a few big deals -- Burgoyne to Hawks, Hall to Dogs and Fev to anywhere.

IIRC the Swans trades in the last couple of years just came out of the blue. There wasn't any expectation about Mattner-Schneider-Dempster or Rhys Shaw coming to Sydney. So maybe there'll be some more Roos smokies this year. Fev won't be one of them though.

Have you heard of the expression ambit claim.

We started with a secound rounder and the Dog's with a fourth as ambit claims.

If a deal is done, it will be somewhere between and will come down to who holds the nerves longer and whether there any other external mitigating circumstances (ie a Fev deal or another 2 or 3 clubs show interest in Hall.
