Personally, I think he deserved more than the 2 votes for that game. He completely negated and outplayed Betts in that game.

            The Swans' or the AFL's?

He's not eligible for the AFL RS next year as he turned 21 a few months ago (and I think has played too many games anyway).

I don't know if the club applies exactly the same eligibility rules as the AFL's award but he's a certainly not to win next year, given he won it this year (with White).

Hopefully we have a fierce battle for next year's club rising star award, with Vez, Meredith, Hannebury and Currie fighting it out - maybe with some of Johnston, Gilly or Heath giving them a run for their money too.

God I hope so. I inadvertantly and anonymously get a mention in this article for a decision I made earlier in the year.

I still reckon Ablett is home but will happily cheer the umps pet in . . .

Re Brownlow night - in 2006 the club organised a dinner at (I think) the Hilton Hotel. It was a great night which culminated in Goodes winning. It doesn't look like any event is being planned for Brownlow night this year, so does that mean somehow they know that he won't win ?

I know that Goodesy's going to be in Melbourne ... he's taking MickyO as his token WAG.

                              Rnd 17-18

                              Round 17 v Melbourne, Manuka.

BEST: Jolly, McVeigh, O'Keefe, Grundy, Bolton, Shaw, Kirk.

Goodes for the 2nd week in a row had his colours lowered, against a younger opponent.
Jolly always seems to lift against his old side and kept chipping in with crucial goals in a very lack lustre game.
The swans were never headed, but could not kick away to a comfortable lead. Extremely poor kicking from the demons kept them out of the game.

                              Swans by 18.

Jolly with 3 goals and McVeigh 2.

                              Round 18 v St Kilda @ SCG.

BEST: Goodes, Jack, Jolly, McVeigh, O'Keefe, Ablett

Up against the unbeaten Saints and struggling to beat the bottom of the ladder Dees last week, there was a lot of trepidation in amongst swans fans for this game. Huge pressure was put on the Saints midfield, C Bolton kept Riewoldt fairly quiet. A goal to Goodes on the qtr time siren, kept the swans only a goal down. 3 early goals to the swans and the swans were playing their hearts out. The saints kicked back, but a late goal from a free to Ablett and the Swans were in front at half time. The swans failed to kick a goal in the third term, hand the saints a 19 point lead at the last break. Goals to McVeigh, White and O'Loughlin, and suddenly it was game on. O'Loughlin missed a set shot that would've given the swans the lead. A grubber kick late in the term unlocked the deadlock given the Saints a one point win.
The Swans showing that the Saints were vulnerable.

White 3 goals, Goodes and Ablett 2,

                              7-11-0.
