1 year contract sounds right on the money.
He has been playing semi professional sport in Ireland so I don't see him coming back 20 kg's over his playing weight.

I wouldn't mind him doing that at all. If nothing else, it will stagger the list turnover a bit more, taking a pick we need to use off the back end of this draft, which we'll go relatively deeply into, and put it on the back end of next draft, into which we probably won't go as deep, thereby increasing the overall quality of the picks we use over the two years.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Won't he be a very long way off full fitness for AFL now. As much as I admire the guy, it looks like the Swans will be OK without him. Is his shoulder still popping out, or has it been corrected?

Shoulder didn't pop out once this season as far as I'm aware. I think a year away from the AFL will do his ability to play top level footy over here no harm at all - he will be refreshed and rejuvenated.

wouldnt that be nice if that fella is the next Brett Kirk ie a player that has come back a few years in a row to trial and then finally makes it !!!

our backline is solid without TAG...........but not top5 at all !!

we need a little more experienced counter attack with proven ability ie Tag

With Tag we have a dangerous counter attacking backline which forces the midfield of the opposition to play tighter and the opposition backline to not push up as much - now with White and Bradshaw and Goodes floating one on ones in our forward line will be as strong as most team in the top 5

            Shaw
            Mattner
            Tag
            Malceski
Barlow - I would prefer to become a defender if possible as he is quick big man with a sharp low long kick.......he can develop further

That is 4 out of 5 very sharp counter attack players and Mal should be right now as it takes two seasons to come back from a serious knee injury - but his operation was cutting edge and never been done before from memory !

On the contrary, what I've read suggests he'll be in considerably better nick than when he left.

i'd say his endurance and strength will be down but he'll be moving and feeling better and be less prone to injury. he's probably in better shape than a lot of players that played a full season and just needs a solid preseason and a few games in him. should be able to peak towards the end of the season.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

He's still on the list according to this. If he has decided to not come back or retire or whatever, I'm sure the club would have announced it by now.

i have it on good authority that he has indicated to the club that he wants to play again... so I can't understand why the club would have deleted him.
that list appears to be wrong
