    2010 team......lets have a go !!

    F: Moore, White, Hannebery

    HF: Ryan, Goodes, Ablett

Midfield: Jack, Mumford, Kirk, Bolton, McVeigh, Smith

    HB: Malceski, Bolton, Shaw

    B: Mattner, RLT, Barlow

Bench: Seaby, Grundy, Kennedy, McGlynn, (Richards)

Richards, Grundy, Barlow you could throw a blanket over........i like Barlows long feed, versatility and will develop with another season......he could become a genuine starter.......Grundy could go another level........Richards could be on the decline
I think we only need to continue easing in Hannebery,Johnston, Meredith, Veszpremi and not rush them....the two pockets up front will be awesome opportunity for those guys to rotate....

Bird, Pyke, Playfair, Heath, Currie, ......????

    My round 1 team:

    B: Smith LRT C.Bolton
    HB: Mattner Grundy Shaw
C: Jack [Seaby Kirk ROK Kennedy] McVeigh
    HF: Vespremi Goodes J Bolton
    FF: Moore White Currie

    Bench: Mumford Bird Malceski Hannaberry

Close to selection: Johnston Barlow McGlynn Meredith Schmidt

If Vespremi, Meredith, Schmidt and Moore start the year well we are going to have some depth come round 1, not to mention pick 6 if it was Dustin Martin

Bird is a certain Starter no matter where you put the rest. The kid has between 50-60%max game time and averages around 14 possesions and kicks goals also, either next year or the year after once his tank increases he will become an elite midfielder. Sorry but Cheese is off also

      FJohnstone, White, Hannebery

      HF: Okeefe, Goodes, Bird

Midfield: Jack, Mumford, Kirk, Bolton, McVeigh, Smith

      HB: Mattner, Bolton,Richards

      B: LRT,Grundy, Shaw

      Seaby, Kennedy,Malceski, Vespremi
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

I think our greatest strength will be our counter attack out of the backs..........sounds bizarre and unlike the Swans as a no.1......... but Id like to think if we have an edge in 2010 it wont be that we are fitter, faster, more athletic, taller etc but it will be that we have several backs with above average kicks on them and we have a 2 guys in particular with great leads from the front......

Barlow, Malceski, Mattner can send a strong long driving ball.........White and Goodes will be very hard to handle on the run coming off teh front line.........Shaws quick breaks and Jacks sharp left.....

if we can isolate the youth upfront......so our tall leading men can lead then we are going to be dangerous........these young guys have to cause enough trouble upfront to free up our talls leading......we may finally have enough upfront

our midfield, HF and HB lines should be disciplined and experienced enough to control the game..........it will come down to our young forwards capitalising on the delivery !!

That's a little harsh on Bird, he was 11th overall for us in average disposals (15.6 per game) whilst only being on the ground for 62% of the time. Not world beating at all, but a pretty decent clip to rack them up in such limited game time.

My biggest hope for Bird this year is just for him to be able to stay on the ground for between 70-75% of the game, I don't think he's particuarly sluggish when he's out there.

                RWO stats (thanks Scotty!).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I found it really hard to put together a 2010 team. Probably because there are a lot of fringe players who may or may not step up.

                    B: Bevan, Roberts-Thomson, Richards
                    HB: Shaw, Bolton, Mattner
                    C: McVeigh, Kirk, O'Keefe
                    HF: Moore, Goodes, Barlow
                    F: Veszpremi, White, Kennedy
                    Ruck: Mumford, Jack, Bolton
                    Bench: Seaby, Grundy, McGlynn, Malceski

I'd like to see Meredith get some decent game time. I liked what I saw of him.

                        My attempt:

                        B: Smith, B2, Shaw
                        HB: Mattner, Hyphen, Richards

                        C: McVeigh, Hannerbery, Pebbles

HF: Jack (defensive forward), Goodes, Moore
                        F: Vespa, White, Seaby

                        R:Mumford, Kirk, B1

Int: Grundy, Bird, Kennedy, Barlow or Malceski (whoever looks better in the practise matches)

Very unlucky: Meredith and MOD, would happily swap them for any in the starting 22 if they show they are better.

Ablett, Bevan??? NOG will probably be in the team despite my best wishes and Bevan, at his best, is a certain starter but did not seem to be at that level last year. Injury?

Obviously this is not exactly how they would line up, but it is who would play Rnd1
