our best 6 in the midfield for 2010

        hhhmmm

we have a tonne of flexibility with ROK and Goodes very strong in the half forward line as well as the midfield.....How small we go in he pockets with potentially Hannebery and Moore will also alter the midfield

        1.Goodes - loose - wing
        2.Kirk - Tag - standard
3.Jack - loose - wing if he can do it
4.McVeigh - tag - as I would like to see Jack playing wider
5.Mumford - ruck - to start over Seaby from what I saw of him in 2009
6.McGlynn - tag - fast and tenacious - our smaller experienced agile players to start

        7. Smith - Bench
        8. Bird - Bench
        9. ROK - although starting HF will be on the ball alot and he will take over from Kirk as a dominant midfielder come 2011

Kennedy - needs to prove himself yet but I will be delighted if he jumps ahead

I think to start the game we need Goodes dominating around the the ball ups and throw ins........Mumford from what I saw in 2009 I am happy to start as he is the bigger unit against the very strong top 5 Ruckman.......in the more open parts of the game we should have the lighter Seaby

I would be swapping over ROK from half forward for Goodes for half the game each........in effect ROK will be playing on the ball anyway majority of game from HF anyway.

When Goodes goes to CHF push White up with Bradshaw if he isnt standing up there anyway.

No chance McVeigh will tag. Jack and Mack (Veigh) need to be unleashed!

i think it is fair to say that we only play two of our 6 midfield loose at the Swans

                ie the two wing.......

different but generally works for us.........Goodes always and I think Jack needs to play a little wider of the pack with his sharp delivery

Here's confirmation of how Roos sees the forward line lining up.

"The loss of Hally means we're trying to replace him with Adam (Goodes) in that similar role at centre half-forward, but we've got no one to replace Mick.

"But Bradshaw is just the perfect player who can play out of full-forward with Jesse White next to him, so being able to emulate what Mick's been able to do and kick goals and help Jesse and tackle and set up things.
Roos confident to get Bradshaw | Herald Sun

Ah, grundy is our new key backman. will not see him on a wing. goodes also wont play on the wing. either at CHF or pushing up to contests in a similar role to a HFF, when we need more midfield presence.

                      FB Bevan C. Bolton Grundy
                      HB Shaw LRT Mattner

                      Interchange: Mumford, Kennedy, Malceski, Bird

Others with a good chance: Veszpremi, MOD, McGlynn, Ablett, Meredith, Barlow, Thornton, Kennelly (IF he returns, which would be great for our depth.)

The next tier: Johnston, Pyke, Currie, Heath, any 09Draft Picks.

Not a bad side, but would change the following.

Smith to the back pocket instead of Bevan. Bevan is too slow to look after the small forwards and got carved up a few times in 2009.

I am hoping the Irishman does come back and by mid season he will have his fitness back. If so, by about round 10 - 12, I would play him on the half back flank. A fitter Malceski to play the HBF until Taj is fit.

Mattner or Malceski to take Smiths spot on the wing.

                        Swap Jack and O'Keefe around.

I have my doubts about Richards. I would probably bring in a small forward to take his spot. With White, Bradshaw, Goodes and O'Keefe up forward, I would use the 2 other forward spots with small/medium type players.

The side is definately calling out for a small forward to step up. aka Moore or Veszpremi. I would love to the Vesz playing at the feet of Goodes, White and Bradshaw.

No, we need Jack up forward for his defensive pressure and a few opportunistic goals. Hopefully he can use his speed to stifle the oppositions run out of defence.

The most important division is between players who are in the squad to give us depth of reserves (Ablett, Playfair) and those who are potential guns(Vespremi,Meredith,Smith),. then we have the players with uncertain form Malceski, Barlow.

In our rebuilding period you have to play the potential guns, hence I have Vespa,White, Meredith,Bird, Hannebery,Smith in the team. Seaby and Mumford choose themselves eliminating Pyke and Currie.Bradshaw takes MOL's position.White has to play FF but Goodesy is a perfect CHF as he gets older and the pace declines. The only changes to this above team is possibly Kennedy for Hannebery or Vespremi, ROK to be given his roaming task. Sorry no Ablett,Barlow,Malceski,Playfair Currie ,Pyke, and my lucky player is Teddy courageous Richards. These players left out are to fill in for injuries later.
