    Ah. OK, thx.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Of course it didn't work ... but it did scare the living @@@@ out of me.

i htink most clubs these days sorta acknowledge if a player nominates a club then they generally wont take em, as you wouldn't waste your pick on someone who doesn't want to be there...
Melb have no benefit of taking bradshaw, i think they will go for mid 20's hard player to bolster their stocks...having bradshaw does nothing for them

If Melbourne are willing to give Bradshaw the same contract that Sydney has offered, and if he truly was looking for financial stability for his family, I can't see him retiring if they happened to take him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

                I agree.

Was probably a bit over the top suggesting Bradshaw threaten to retire, but when families and a 200 game player are involved he's entitled to go where he wants.

If I were his manager I'd be generating plenty of media coverage in the next few weeks about buying property in Sydney, finding schools for the kids, getting permission to train with the Swans etc.

Would getting rid of Russell Robertson and taking Bradshaw, who is the same age, make any sense? We may talk premiership window but I think it's fair to say the Dees are a way off theirs.

Didnt Mal Michael retire from Brisbane then suddenly the next year turn up at Essendon?

Yep but there was no issue about refusing to be drafted to another club

Not if a quality player is on offer. Nick Stevens and Jade Rawlings are 2 recent examples of players who have ended up at their non-preferred club. I doubt any clubs will stand aside and let Luke Ball slide to the Pies if he nominates for the draft either.

FWIW I think Bradshaw will be a Swan but I guess it will be nervous times until then

Very true, however they still got the money they were after and were able to remain in Melbourne.

The Bradshaw situation is so different and involves a clear choice of city for his family. It would be a pretty average thing for a club to do I think, especially considering the Swans said from the very start they wouldn't stop him going to live in Melbourne despite having a higher pick than Carlton.

Don't disagree with you there, but it's a myth that clubs won't draft a player who has indicated a desire to play elsewhere. The big difference here is that we are a one club town, Bradshaw is a veteran and for various reasons the clubs above us will probably pass over him.

Dees - too old for their rebuild
                                Tiges - as above
Freo - like us probably wouldnt drag someone to another city if they didnt want to
North - Salary cap/ability to afford demands

I would be disappointed, but not shocked if another club called his name on PSD day.

Luke Ball and Collingwood is a prime example. if he nominates for the ND, there is no way that he will last until pick 30, fair chance Dees would pick him at 18. If he nominates for the PSD, any of the first 3 clubs wouldnt hesitate to choose him
