I have no idea. Better ask Cheer Squad. He seems to know more about it than all of us.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

What is the primary purpose of Club Swans anyway? Is it a base for supporters to get together or is it for the poker machine revenue.

If the club was only after a supporter venue I'm sure some of the other more convenient venues would gave been explored.

That was part of the problem, they tried to link the two and frankly it was never going to work as the AFL clubs have tried and failed in Melbourne.

I understand the need to diversify the revenue base of the club, so they should have removed the social element from the decision to set-up a club and went with something that had a better chance of succeding as a profit generator.

Clearly there are several options within and close by to the SCG that can work as after match function spaces to cater for members post game as part their memebership package and game day experience.

Exactly. If it's about making the cash, then calling something Club Swans (or anything to do with the Swans) is frankly daggy and never going to make much in this market.

As for access to public transport, Bondi Jct is no better. Try getting from the SCG on a Sunday to bondi junction via public transport. Then you will know pain.
You obviously want a venue that suits your own special requirements in the immediate aftermath of games at the SCG.

I think we need a more substantial venue than that - one that members can go to the whole year round.

And I don't know what you're carrying on about as far as getting to Bondi Junction from the SCG is concerned. It's not that hard.

Olympic Park may not be a bad choice of venue for a Swans social club. Would provide an alternative to the Brewery on game days - so even supporters of other codes would spend money at the Swans club on their Homebush game days.

That's actually quite a good idea - real thinking outside the square.

If we can't find a suitable inner-city venue, why not try establishing something elsewhere that would be well-patronised by the supporters of other codes? Especially as there's going to be a retail precinct at Olympic Park in the future.

An alternative 3 times a year?

You can't have a social club 20+km from our home ground.

Oh lets hope not. Our money should go to OUR club not an NRL club.
