    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Slightly off-topic but does anyone know a good place to find the torrent for the game? My digital recorder only taped the first quarter.

The New Boys at "Snake gully"

So many to watch ; so many trying hard with speed , skill and commitment:
        An embarrasment of riches.
Picking a team might be difficult if we have 35 serious contenders

Swans beat Carlton in strength and we only had Adam from our real forward line.
Never been so excited by the NAB cup

Only downside ; did any one else see the problems Bolton C was having, and uncontested??? What was going on there?

But remember the only game that counts is Round 13, 26th June
Mr Roos knew what he was doing'
John Longmire is taking it to an art form
We dont know how lucky we are to be Swans supporters

His kicks were very short and he turned it over a bit. If you compare him to Jude, Jude certainly gains a lot more ground and usually moves in a straight line.

Up until now I have liked Bird but I want to see that early promise really come out as a positive penetrating midfielder. Someone said recently he had improved his kicking and was kicking through the ball now. That wasn't eveident tonight.

I think the highlight of the night - almost above from the promise of some of the draftees/recruits - was that someone dropped a big laptop computer on Robert Walls' head and left a big scar.

Who was it and what are we going to send as a reward?

Probably they both have the same amount of speed, you could agrue Mclean has equal skill, but above the shoulders McLean misses out big time. If McLean doesn't realise this quick smart he will be on AFL's scrap heap in 2 years.

Sorry Nico, I disagree. Brock is one of the better players in the comp. Some players dont's shake hands before the game, fair enough - save the hugs and kisses until later.

As for the performance of the team- good signs indeed. As long as Bradshaw and Jesse stay fit, I recon we'll go alright.

If I had to give one criticism on Jetta's game, it happened right in front of me on the wing- geez my brother and I made some noise, only bloke to wear a pies jumper and scream Collingwood all night!- Jet picked up a loose ball right on the boundary, saw a player running in support, got pushed onto his left hand, obviously not his natural hand, and dished out a handball that would get you dragged in Sydney Div 4. Was under a reasonable amount of pressure but at that level you'd expect much better. Will get exploited in future if not addressed. I was a proud Blacktown boy last night, great crowd.

One NAB Cup game and a match thread is already hijacked with accusations of commentary bias I didn't have any problem with the commentary. They were very critical of Carlton and mostly positive about the Swans.

I think sweat would have contributed to the slippery ball as well.

Judd, their highest possession winner, had a kicking efficiency of 54%. Eeek. Their second highest possession getter was Browne and his was 60%.

Bryce and Gibbs almost made up for it.

By contrast Bird (20 possies, 70% effiency) which is bloody good for an inside and J Bolton exactly the same. Maleceski 85% efficiency was close to back to his best, I thought. Grundy 88% continued on where he left off in defence last year. Despite the odd complete stuff up, he is actually a very good disposer of the footy.

The stats also bear out my impression that McGlynn whilst undoubtably an asset to the team, needs to work on his decision making. Needless to say that Bevo is in the same camp, although both get a lot of disposals under pressure and in a contested situation.

Last but not least, Jetta 91% effective, 60-70m possession is just gold. If he can get on the park and stay there, will make an immediate difference to our team, even with a modest possession tally.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

The commentary was @@@@, and Walls and Lane focussed a little bit too much on Carlton (mostly how bad they were, prompting Quarters to remind them to give Sydney some credit), but on the whole it was reasonably even-handed. Though at least 30% of the Swans commentary was about Lewis Jetta.

I thought he was subtly suggesting it was Quartermain who did it...
