    We watched him arrive.

    We watched him develop.

    We watched him leave.

    Thanks, Tom.

He is now just another opposition player. Let's get over it and as Sprite said 'Thanks Tom'.

We got the deal done early for a good pick, freed up cap angst, said farewell to Tom, changed our midfield mix with Heeney replacing Mitchell, we've moved on - close thread

someone has said they need more speed, Tom wont give it to them They loose Hill as well as sam Mitchell who I think is probable quicker than Tom at least with his brain and he disposes of the ball better. Tom gets it and instantly handballs or puts in on his foot

After witnessing the sheer class of him weaving through three Cats in the prelim to dish it off to Parker for a goal, I believe he will be the new 'Sam' Mitchell for the Hawks and that they'll be very happy for a long time that they nabbed him, and with their structures and playing style, he's just what they need.....but they will be happier than we are unhappy......we've got him covered already.

Yes, Clarko saw that and had to get him. But can Tom outrun Jaguar O'Meara?

Here's a nice article about Tommy M by Harry C and Jaeger O'Meara: Tom Mitchell is on another level - AFL Players. Not for Mitchell haters. Makes me sadder than ever that we lost him. If only we'd had a crystal ball and known Hanners was going to fall off a cliff we would never have let him leave. Exactly what we need now. Right age and leadership material, quite apart from his form.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

In the wake of Hanners unforeseen and sudden decline, the loss of Mitchell is being felt now more than ever but the reality is, from this day forward it's just going to be 'one of those things'..... ....with really no one to blame. 'The best laid plans'......'you win some, you lose some' are two cliches that spring to mind which just about sum up this situation and we move on......we have no choice.

We could make Hawthorn our second team?

The Swans employed Barry as an opposition analyst just before drafting Tom, is Barry still working for the Swans?

Don't think so. I think he left the club at around the same time Tom did.
