Bugger! Oh well, this is a great opportunity to bring someone new in from the 2's and develop them, therefore Richards may not be the best choice in this instance. I know little about form in the 2's so I'll leave that to other posters.

Smith to the backline where he excelled lat year. It was the return of Keneally that took him out of round 1, not his lack of talent.
I like it. Match him up with Drummond - stop their run setup down back.

Ted could perform this role, although I'd think he'd be up for a loose man role which is his best position IMHO.
Yes, exactly right. If we were going to experiment with Pyke playing defence in seniors, I would have thought the Lions and their forward line would not be the team to do it.

got an e-mail from the swans and this was the second paragraph written by John Blakey

It?s unfortunate that Craig Bolton will miss the game, but it gives an opportunity to one of the young guys for a chance in the side. One of the guys who has been playing well in the seconds, like Paul Bevan, Ted Richards or Gary Rohan will get the opportunity this week. So that?s exciting for those guys, considering the team has been playing really well and there have been very few changes.
so it looks like its gonna be out of those 3.

          Peace

LRT on a lumbering Brown, Reg on Fev. Who is their third forward?

Staker has been playing as a third forward, but not particularly effectively. They could throw Mitch Clarke down there for periods, or bring in someone like Cornelius (probably unlikely unless Brown misses).

Brennan can be dangerous around goal, though he's mostly been playing in the midfield. He's probably a bit like O'Keefe though - a midfielder who may get thrown forward at times. Short of sacrificing Goodes to run with Brennan, I can see Mattner getting a role on him. He, Brown, Fevola and Black and probably the four Lions most likely to cause individual havoc if allowed. Mattner has the ability to run with him in the midfield and also to play in defence. Whether he is agile or clever enough to curb Brennan if he's "on" is another matter, but I doubt we have anyone else more likely to curb him, especially with B2 now out of the picture.

i say out of those three i mentioned above, bring in the ranga where we could really use his tackling and speed plus good decision skills, for the next few games and then bring richards back in when he starts to fade a little.

I think Brisbane and Geelong, our next two opponents, were made to look slow by Melbourne and Carlton respectively. Part of that was that they seemed flat across the whole team but the opposition leg speed was an issue. We are a bit faster team than last year but maybe the pace of Rohan would bring valuable x-factor against these two teams. Would be throwing him in the deep end, mind.
