Barlow has been playing in defence in the twos - or at least, he has been mostly starting at the back end of the square. No-one in the twos seems to worry too much about traditional man on man defence.

I'll probably be howled down here, but White has played some good reserves football in defence. His leap and closing speed make him a very good spoiler. Given he's not been setting the world on fire up forward, wouldn't mind seeing him play on Hawkins. Should be able to run off Hawkins quite easily. Barlow can be a quite competent lead up half-forward when he feels like it. He is quite quick, a decent mark, good kick and can run all day.

As already mentioned, Hawkins is their backup ruckman so won't spend as much time forward as usual. Carlton got away with playing Walker on TomaHawk so I think Mattner or Barlow could do a similar job if required.
White to defence and play cheese as the lead up forward with Goodes playing close to Bradshaw.

        We missed LRT desperately today.

Sure did, and Barlow is a dud.
I reckon Bevan would have given us a lot more than he did.

I totally agree RE Barlow - he is not up to it. Ted had one of the worst games I have seen him play for us today...he was horrendous.

as dumb as this sounds, i thought rohan showed a far bit depsite bearly touching the ball, bit unlucky at times.

Hmm, maybe appointing Brian Waldron to manage our Salary Cap would get him here??

How do they keep all those players under their cap at Geelong?

No disgrace to lose that one. We gave a great contest in the first half but the weight of ball meant Geelong were bound to to kick a big score. Geelong are deserving
flag favourites, with fantastic defensive pressure and a
disciplined zone that blocked off space up forward.

Our running backs were excellent but once past centre we had noone to kick to.

With three injuries in the past week we were missing six from our best 22 - not to make excuses, but maybe not a bad fixture to have when you're undermanned.

It was a tough match for every player but you wonder if Barlow just missed his last chance.

I was wondering this very same thing as I wandered off to the kitchen to make a batch of pikelets that I ate all by myself (sure sign of depression).

You may just have said it Shock. I can't see how such an athlete can be persisted with if his performance on the ground almost never matches up with his training drill expertise. It is just so flatlining to watch. And frustrating.
