He could've had a running shot at goal in the third quarter, about two minutes after he missed a running shot from about the same distance on the other side of the ground, he hesitated and then passed it off. Both kicks were gettable, but he wouldnt even take the shot the second time. Give him a run in the two's, let him kick 5, then bring him back. I don't see what the big deal about letting him have a run in the two's is. It's not what he has been doing thats kept him in the side these past few weeks , it's what he ]could be doing.
Where is jetta's best position?

Having just watched some of the replay, anywhere on ground is good for Jetts. He is a little nusance (sic) and bothers them to bits. Its a shame about the non kicked goals, but it is also now hilarous. He had better not kick one before the Collingwood game! We will raise the roof when he does and I want to be there. Although against Port would also be a cracker. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Jetta
?At the moment, it?s just completely psychological. To be perfectly frank ? he?s probably got to go back to the seconds and kick two or three goals because I don?t think it?s going to happen at senior level,? he said.
?That?s okay. He?s just a young kid and he?s just got the yips at the moment. The way to fix that is to get him back, get him playing good footy and kicking two or three goals in the seconds and he?ll be fine.
?It?s probably at the stage now where he?d run into an open goal and trip over the footy, but he?s a really talented kid and it?ll turn around. When it does, he?s the sort of kid who?ll kick 12 or 13 straight.?
This is the Roos philosophy of coaching in a nut shell. "She'll be right mate, just drop him down to the 2's"" Imagine what Malthouse would do.The poor kid would actually be practising kicking goals on the run for 8 hours a day 7 days a week till he averaged 80% with no let up on other training either. Is Jetta lucky or unlucky to experience the Roos method? The players love him or used to love him but hell he is casual and sometimes appears to be just plain slack.Comment

I don't think Malthouse is the best example to use given how profligate the Magpies have been this season in converting their goal scoring opportunities.
Anyway, you can practise all you want, even in simulated game environments but it's never going to replicate the real thing. Jetta wrote in his blog early on, when he was only on 3 or 4 behinds how great it would be to finally kick that first goal. It's obvious that it is at the forefront of his mind. The crowd goes mental whenver he gets the ball, and no doubt is urging him on to kick it, but he has burnt more than a few opportunities when it would have been better to pass it off to a teammate.Comment

I imagine that the pressure of being off the tv (and away from big crowds) might help - right now his confidence must be taking a battering. Roos has left him in the senior team for quite a while considering he has missed so many goals - there are not too many options left really.Comment

And if he did go the media saying "yep his kicking is terrible and we've had a good long talk to him and hes going to be practising7 days a week until he averages 80% and were gonna ride him hard while hes at it" he be criticised for airing his laundry in public.
Give the guy a break.
Roos as Head Coach is accountable for this situation . If Jetta was an employee at a firm, underachieving for the same reasons, the managers would be called to task.that is all I am doing and quite justifiably so.Comment

If only he would stop trying to kick goals, and just blow them out of the water with his speed, which cannot be questioned. Don't kick, just run kiddo. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

And secondly, I promise you that the one-on-one performance coaching and feedback wouldn't be conducted via the media.
You seem to think you know how Jetta (or White or any others) are developed and coached purely based on Roos' pressers?????Comment

Why? Why give him a break? Why can't coaches cop criticism for players and the teams poor performance? They are well paid to do a certain job and achieve results why can't we criticise them? I think for Roosey to have such a wonderful prodigious talent as Jetta under his care and guidance is a huge responsibility for which he should be accountable. Roos has had some wonderful coaching successes,Jetta is not one of them..yet. But half way through a season to have a young player so lacking in confidence seems to me to be poor human resource management.

If we wanted direct feedback and tantrums we should have kept Eade, proceeded with Wallace or aimed for Mick M.Comment
