Wouldnt drop goodes but [B]shaw for all his endevours cost us the game when it was there to be won won't crtique his disposal as he was the same at the pies.

Jesse White experiment is over time to bring inTDL..we can't have jesse do nothing for 3/4 of a game.
I agreed, until I saw there was still 2 mins left on the clock when he had that shot at goal. We still would of lost IMO, they were killing us in the clearances. Shaw cant be the only one blamed for the loss, goodes kicking 1.7 or whatever, that certainly doesnt help! The performance of hannerbury, smith, jetta and in some instances heath was very pleasing. We're 5-5 still in the 8 and absolutely MUST win next week!

Why can't Goodsy start each quarter in the Midfield? Shove Bolton down in the forward pocket till Goodsy needs a rest or better still drop Bolton altogether. He needs a week or two off.

I can't believe people are saying Goodes had bad game. He kicks those 2 early and all would be lauding him. When you have rubbish delivery from the midfield what can you expect. While on forwards I disagree that White was good. He took 2 marks for 2 good goals and got one very soft free. Have a look at the replay and you will see him continually playing behind.

At least 3 times the ball went into our forward line when all but him and his opponent were the only ones in our forward line. He was way behind his man and his man either marked it or ran away with it. In the 3rd Q he went to the marking contest too late, the ball popped over his head to where he should have been and they cleared it. Also in the 3rd Q Playfair went for a mark and all could see it was going to be a spilled contest. The Hawthorn player anticipated and went to the fall of the ball. Jessie sat off by 10 metres again because he was behind his man. He got dragged in the last quarter because he refused to play in front. He doesn't read the play and or is lazy.

I thought we got back our Mojo today and fought for every contest. There were some contests in the 3rd and last Q where there was a finger nail it. We get the breaks and we were away.

Smith was outstanding and towelled up Hodge. He didn't allow him any space to take the free handball which is his style.
Campbell Heath will be a good footballer. Is strong and seems to know his way around.
MOD found it hard to get into the game but was OK in the 2nd half. Should get another game next week.
Hanneberry is a star and Kennedy was very good and broke tackles with ease.
I thought Mattner had his best game for 2010.
I am perplexed why we try to pass between the wing and HFF when the times we went long with purpose we really had their backs under the pump. We lost our chance here because every one in Australia knows Hawthorn's backline is suss.
Kikr and Bolton were next to useless in the centre clearances. Hawthorn were always first at it (Sewell in particular) and our blokes sat off with the blocking and holding crap as usual. Even Swans fans in the crowd picked this up today.
Even though Shaw missed that shot his explosive pace, stamina and strength would be better served in the midfield. We lack pace going forward so why not.

Bolton had 10 tackles, but watching him today he really struggled to keep up and his work was really in on the ground stuff.

People had a go at Shaw for a couple of terrible kick ins but if you looked downfield no one gave him anything like a lead or a target. He had no options except to run and bomb it long. I though he had the better of Rioli for most of the day.

...even though McVeigh got a bit of it against the Bulldogs and Goodes did some magic against Geelong...that's 16 consecutive beatings taken by out midfield.
Mc Veigh had 20 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal. I think he had a good game.

By the way Playfair had 12 disposals 7 marks (from what I saw a few were contested) and 2 goals.
White had 5D 2M and 3 Goals (2 from an angle, 1 of those on the boundry).

It was a pathetic Pittman game. Goodes only touched the ball twice in the whole 2nd half. He gets paid about $23,000 per game. Did he earn it today? He should give it back to the Club.

They both played their roles, but quite different roles. Henry spent a fair bit of time down back, especially in the second half, White provided bash and crash that doesn't show up on the stats sheet. Had the Swans got more clean clearances, White - in particular- would probably have had more of the ball. In any case, he mostly did his role of providing a target out of the goal square. Now they need to find a way of keeping him in the game when Bradshaw returns.

Goodes is forgiven his outing because of poor delivery into the forward line but White is then poor? You make it sound as if White was consistently touched up, I thought that he generally did a good job today as a big key forward of taking a mark or bringing the ball to ground.

5 touches for a game is not a lot, granted- but I daresay he was told to stay put in the goal square for most of the game, and we only had 40 forward 50 entries for the match.

I think saying he "got one very soft free" cheapens his execution of what was a very tough kick.

The one he got in the last Q was a tough kick!

White had 2 marks and presented a couple of times. He crunched one pack from what I saw. Please post all those moments when he brought it to the ground. Read my post. He played from behind all day. From the first day at Auskick you are taught to play in front as a forward. Not real hard to comprehend by an AFL footballer I would think.

I don't normally get too frustrated with umpiring, but I was livid at the holding the ball decision against Malceski- regardless of the umpire having blown the whistle as soon as Cyril grabbed his arm, the justification of "he spun you 360 degrees" wasn't even close to being correct.

Sorry, I thought you were refering to the kick in the first quarter (that was a from a free for OOBOTF).

All I said was that I thought he did a good job of taking a mark or bringing the ball to ground, I honestly just don't recally him being so soundly beaten as he clearly was- in fact I don't recall him being a forward 50 target all that often to even rack up examples.

It was a shocker. Think the ump was guilty of letting Rioli's reputation as a good tackler cloud his judgement there, rather than just wait to see if the tackle was laid and Mal disposed of it.

Watched the last mins again. On second viewing, McVeigh had some crucial disposals towards the end, I initially thought he had a poor game but his stats and that last few mins say otherwise.
