I don't think either are matchwinners so what difference does it make. I suppose there's a chance Bevo may kick a goal or two. Isnt it interesting we spend the most time arguing over the last player picked who will probably have the least effect on the game.

I know what you mean, but I think the part in bold is the most important bit for team selection. Matt's got about 3 1/2 years on Paul, if it's not finals time then it's fair to say that the last spot on the list might be alright for a development guy.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Besides which, the theory that skills are less important in wet weather is severely flawed. Yes, skillful players don't make the most of their skills in the wet. But neither do the unskilled players. In fact, they get even worse. What the wet weather does is it blunts everybody's skills to some extent, but accentuates the difference between skillful players and not-so-skillful players. The cream doesn't rise to the top, so to speak, just that the rain washes the milk away quicker than the cream.
He is a firm believer about wet weather bringing sides together being a complete fallacy.
The skillful side mightn't win by as many points because the conditions aren't conducive to high scoring, but they are a surer bet to win.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

I think bevan would be better for the conditions this weekend.... bigger body and very hard at the ball, there are going to be a lot of short passes instead of long so MOD's skills aren't going to come into play. He may get mega posessions in the reserves but he just doesn't have the confidence or hardness in the AFL at the moment, although i do agree that he does look to have a future about him.
This game is important and its going to be congested and full of tackling, Bevan is a much better option than MOD for this game.

Rodney Eade is a great believer that wet weather gives sides/players with good skills a bigger advantage over less skilled players than on a dry track.

Generally tho, it makes sense that a more skilled team should stay as the more skilled team, regardless of the conditions.Comment

Unless I missed it something your point was that Bevo gets the ball more, with MOD only having it 10 times. BSA5 pointed out that Bevo has only averaged getting it 10 times this year.
Bevan had 5 tackles and 4 insides 50s in two games, MOD had 1 and 2 in one game. I don't really think that's much of a difference. MOD got 1 clearance, Paul got zilch. MOD got 7 contested touches in 1 game, Paul got 9 in 2.
As it stands right now, I think it's fair to say that BSA5 is more handsome than you. Lift your game you dirty Bevo lover!
bevan is definitely a better tackler as well.
BSA5 is probably still a little more handsome though =/Comment

If the selectors don't think we can beat Essendon in the wet without Bevan then .... where are the Swans at?
I can't see that Bevo who, as a known factor, has become at best a borderline part of the team, will offer much more than a player that could be an important part of our future.Comment
