I don't blame the players and Roosey for once swung some changes which was good however we needed a much better plan and some changes of personel and some dam fine coaching to have any chance. The prediction was a no brainer.
You know Hartijon, usually you really get under my skin with your negativity, but I have to agree with every single thing you have said here.
I usually go into games with a real upbeat, "this time we'll do it" attitude, but last night stung me badly. We were pathetic - AGAIN!!!
Nothing new, nothing different to the other eight losses to the Pies. Nothing different to the pitiful display against Cats, Freo, Dogs etc, etc.
I hate to say this and I hope my current pessimism passes quickly, but whilst I think we'll beat Richmond next week, I don't see too many more wins this season. We play some pretty "hard at the ball" teams and after that soft display last night, the likes of North, Carlton, Melbourne, games that I expected we'd win a week ago, have (at the moment anyway) started to look far too tough...

I would like to say one thing. We lost by 20 something. We did not lose by 50 something or 75 something. Or even 100 something. They played a great game. We have a lot of boys in our mob this year, the good times will come. I will say one thing though that will not be met with approval. Goodsey is a great club captain, just not a great game captain. In fact the opposite. He gets psyched out. That's all I am going to say.

Honestly Primmy, your heads in the sand with this one.
We lost by 20 something because the pies kicked 18 behinds!!!!!
We had 21 shots on goal to 31!!!!!!
It's sheer bloody good luck that we weren't beaten by 60 odd cause they were a 60 odd better team!!!!

I generously look at the points as being caused by a lot of defensive work......and there was a fair bit of it, sort of, not all of it was from set shots.....I maintain my rose coloured goggles. Shaw and Mal did a lot of work.

I do admit I left at 3Q time as I was absolutely freezing, on the verge of a splitting headache, and couldn't watch anymore anyway. First time I have ever left a game early, even that one against the Saints in the 90s when we lost by about 100.

Well, if they'd kicked goals instead of behinds we wouldn't have had any trouble with our kickouts!
Seriously, Collingwood are reliably hopeless at kicking between the big sticks.

No it's never good for any leader to be playing poorly and displaying such poor body language, getting into arguments with the umpires etc. But we've seen this from Goodes for years now. As a leader he really needs to work out how to get into a game if things aren't going well. Kirk has always been able to throw himself into packs, so Goodes just needs to keep working and stop the petulance.
Unfortunately as brilliant as he is when he's 'on', he's very bad when he's off. Hate to say it but he really is a flat track bully.

Nothing wrong with that Prim. I usually have mine on too but I must have miss placed them this week

Yep, they'll never win a flag with their terrible accuracy. Surely they would have the worst accuracy in the comp?

Never said he was a dud, I was just going to leave him out of the team for a week as part of a midfield rotation system I follow. With Kennedy, J Bolton, Kirk, Smith, Okeefe & McVeigh etc. we have a lot of midfielders not blessed with an abundance of real good leg speed.Of cause I think Kennedy is a real good player I just don't think we have to play them week after week.I would like to see players like Ves, Odwyer, Heath, Johnston, Tdl, Meredith etc get more than 1 or 2 games per season and not see them get frustrated to the point they leave the club and join one of the new franchises.

More like Goodesy psyches himself out I reckon.

He made more clangers than anyone else. Partly due to good pressure by Presti & co, but partly because he's on his own weird trip somewhere.

I think that because the Pies were right on top from the get go (despite the number of behinds scored) that they looked fitter, moved much faster and were hungrier to win it. It just seemed, in some instances, that our boys just stood back just to see how a contest would pan out. kind of like they were all a bit lethargic (and had all been for a night out on the tiles) - perhaps a bug is going through the club - who knows? But if they are thinking that they are going to be in the 8 at H & A's end - they'd better take some Berocca to get back their BB Bounce!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Maybe we need to recruit Maradonna as a coach? He seems to have some popular ideas??????

Well that's bollocks - how many times (including many games vs the Pies) where he's been the difference between a pantsing and some residual respect? Any number of occasions where he's taken the 3 Brownlow points in a game where we've been beaten - the exact opposite of what you'd expect froma flat track bully. I think he's a brilliant leader (albeit a very different one to a Kirk) but right now he's not a brilliant CHF - and who can blame him with the crud service he's getting from the midfield? That experiment isn't working atm and he needs to go back to the midfield where he's free to impose himself on a game in a way that he knows best.
