and ANZ is not our friend. Do we play there because of some reason relating to money? It certainly couldn't be because of football.

I reckon (and I could be wrong ;P), that we'd do a lot better against this mob if we played at the SCG.

I reckon we did OK against a very good team. Especially considering we got little out of our young brigade.

One worry is the number of times we miss targets with (what should be) easy handballs. It's no wonder we struggle to find space.

I can't believe some of the criticism of Goodes. He was well beaten today - often by multiple opponents - but he never stops presenting & providing a contest, and the delivery to him is often wanting. There's no doubt that he's more effective as a midfielder, but who do we have to fill the void at CHF?

A few other observations:
Jude was missing again, until Q4
Jesse White - got to enough contests, but not much to show for it. Still not playing in front enough
Shaw - OK but too many turnovers once again. Not sure if he'll still be in our best 22 by 2012
Mattner - seems well down on the last 2 years. Another whose medium-term future seems uncertain

Heath Shaw said the surface was ok, just a bit slippery because the grass was a bit longer than usual.

We were beaten by a superior team and the scoreboard flattered us.

Our skills were made worse due to relentless pressure but still way too many turnovers and slow decision-making.

Kick-outs are a serious worry. Too slow, too predictable and no creativity.

Thanks goodness tonight for McGlynn, apart from him, ROK showed flashes, as did Kirk, McVeigh and Jack. Rohan will be good and tries his heart out.

Poor Goodes - played out of position for most of the game.

Sorry guys but did anyone here think they were half a chance given this is probably the best side Collingwood has taken to Sydney???? I still think they were playing within themselves. 25 points was flattering and from what I gather Collingwood set out for the 4 points and 4 points only.

Playing at this inferior venue does us no favours. The crowds are dwindling, so the whole "blockbuster" theory is out the window. Why not give us a home chance by playing at the SCG instead of the concrete jungle with long grass.

The best part of the evening was just seeing Roos laugh on the boundary. Because when a team plays as pathetically as they did you need to do something to humour themselves.

Even though Shaw had some clangers (and a free that shouldn't have been given - that was a World Cup winning dive for that free) I thought at least he tried along with McGlynn and Rohan plus Jetta showed some enthusiasm (damn he was unlucky with that bounce when it was in the goal square and went the other way). Goodes was totally in the wrong position so I'm not even going to blame him for his performance, when he played in the midfield at least we had movement happening but that was way too rare.

Oh and I've been a Bevan defender in the past, but seriously he should be behind even Cheese with the way he played tonight.

ETA: Forgot to add with Shaw - it was when he got concussed that he started to drop off and make all the clangers - because I noticed up until that point he was leading the disposals.

Two words really sum it up for mine-inept delivery. Massive failures at hitting targets. Routinely kicking/handpassing to players under pressure (which is nothing new for us).

Elsewhere, nobody appeared to want to back themselves and attempt to even look like they wanted to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The decision to take Goodes out of the forward line came 3qtrs too late. The kick-ins became more predictable than the jokes on Get Smart. How was this not addressed?

LRT was a spectacular underperformer. Jetta should be given clear instructions not to attempt running goals. The younger players in general (excluding the recruits from other clubs, ie, Mumford, McGlynn, Kennedy) need to have a good look at themselves and get their heads around the fact that they need to stand up and start being more accountable.

The above sums it up for me and is how I felt at the game. The midfield got butchered and so were the backline during kick-outs.

Jesse Whyte again was crap he cant mark or go low for the ball, our game plan was wrong, why not play up the middle when 5 goals down with 10 mts left. When we bring in players can we please check thier IQs. I dont think we are the brighest team in the world our decision making is awful.
I cant think of 6 players that would get on the Collingwood team at the moment and Collingwood have been in the 8 for a long time now
