The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face. -
You watched the game with Paris?
LRT does some silly things sometimes BUT does some very good things at other times.
They should do a re-make of The Adventures of Barry McKenzie and give LRT the lead role of Barry. It's on Fox Classics on the 16th July.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

I made this point on a different thread - if you look at the marks you will see it was because grundy was consistently bodying riewoldt to prevent him from flying for the ball. On the other hand riewoldt's mark of the week effort in the first quarter came about because LRT doesnt know how to do this and so riewoldt got a free leap over mattner.
grundy is a far better player (as evidenced by the correct decision to play him on the other riewoldt and lrt on kosi).Comment

I have two things to say to you, Fr. Ken:
1. In case you hadn't noticed, this is football, not gymnastics.
2. There are teams who would love to have him available, and God help us if he wasn't.
I'll be generous and add a third:
3. I doubt that LRT has the skills of a donkey, but you remind me of Samson; he too created havoc with the jawbone of an ass.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Here here you said it, I shouldn't have insulted the donkeyI have two things to say to you, Fr. Ken:
1. In case you hadn't noticed, this is football, not gymnastics. I'm pretty sure I said he was an uncoordinated footballer not gymnast
2. There are teams who would love to have him available, and God help us if he wasn't. Teams do love having him available, Norths will be delighted he'll be playing next week, as does every team we play.
3. I doubt that LRT has the skills of a donkey,Comment

I think we should all acknowledge a few things about 2005 - and i grant you i watched that game with the stunned amazement as many here do because of the regularity with which it is referred to (and I thank Liz for correcting me on one occasion when I mistakenly said that was his last good game - she correctly referred to a game where he beat richo pointlessly and i acknowledge that he has had a few others besides) - and that is just how successful has hansen really been as a player. How successful has been west coast's bomb it in long to gardiner and hansen (or any other west coast forward over the years). They had the best midfield in the competition but their forward line was unequivocally poor. What exactly did LRT beat that day ?
And fwiw just how well did he go against pavlich in the prelim in 2006 and how well against hansen in 2006 gf ??Comment

It's not really that stupid. I think you missed the point.
He might have played well yesterday, but I don't rate him. So for me,if LRT was our best player then we have big problems.
Not that he's any good, but more the fact that the others were worse than him.Comment

Now that's how I feel about Nick Reiwoldt and that's perfectly rational too. There are better players but they don't have the hair that makes them stand out (two of them don't have any hair at all) so he gets all the simplistic media attention. So I understand your LRT pain - at least I've been spared the Saint Nick crap for a few months but there's Lewie taking mark after mark, always on tv, same bloody hair. For the good of the team I hope you have to endure him for a few years to come.Comment

Yes LRt does turn the ball over sometimes. However he does go and get the Sherrin, never shirks his job. I think he has been consistenly one of our best. he has been running one out against good forwards with the ok but not brilliant Smith, Where's Richards who LRT has worked with for a long time. Bolton would normally sharing the load as well. LRT must be having nightmares that everytime the opposition scores a behind he knows that the other backs will kick to a contest and it will be coming straight back. Our restarts have been terriable all year. Lets be realistic, Shaw has had three poor games in a row, Tadgh has a ordinary time, no Bolton. The rest of the backs have reached exhastion I think as the ball is returned constantly. Almost all football codes require you to control the midfield. Perhaps its time that we rotate midfielders so not as to burn them out. we have a number so maybe its time to examine rotations as done in soccer by the clubs such as Liverpool where there is a heavy season workload. Adam Goodes needs a week in Canberra comp so he can remember how to kick and catch.Comment
