Relax Dim, Annie has been calling them that for years.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with calling them budgies.

There was not one comment made about the surface during the game. I am guessing someone on Rockets staff may have suggested the surface was to blame and he has gone with that.

Yes, a Dogs player was running from the O'Reilly side of the ground towards the Members side across the Paddington end 50m line/edge of the centre square and Meredith moved in to shepherd him, the Dogs player went down, free kick reversed. On the soft side, but can see why it was paid, and was silly from Meredith as there was nothing to be gained from doing it.

Must have thought they were playing at Docklands again - coz it seemed about half his players minds were there and not at the SCG...

Fabulously scripted night at the SCG, the crowd and the team were as one, and the development of the young players like TDL, Jetta, Rohan, Smith and Hanners has been outstanding. Kirk doing the lap with his kids was as special as it gets.

Don't always agree with you aardvark, but quite honestly I couldn't put it better......talk about true colours, and why I breathed a sigh of relief when he left......ok, putting the boot in, and he is generally doing well, and I really don't have to be so ungenerous, but bugger it, .......why not.

I had such a wonderful time last night, got to yell, hardly had any heart failures, and enjoyed the kids staying up late and not being dragged around the perimiter, but having a wonderful time in themselves. They all appear to have Kirky's smile.

Also, bold prediction time, watching Macca throughout the game I do believe we have our next captain......he was just marshalling the troops, giving instruction, encouragement, yelps, you name it. I was impressed yet again......

A couple of my favourite moments from last night:
                        - Bevo's tackle on Griffen
                        - Jesse's punch to TDL for a goal
                        - Jude's bizarre bounce and the ball boys thumbs up
                        - Kizza's goal off his left through traffic
                        - Jetta's daring dashes through traffic
                        - Reg's job on Baz.
                        - The beast (Shaw) on beauty (Gia)
                        - Pyke's two-fingers to Brian Taylor (figuratively speaking of course as Pyke is too much of a gentleman)
                        - Teddy's smother and then the bump
                        - McVeigh's superb clearances, that one-handed grab and goal
                        - Trent Dennis-Lane hard work in the forward line being rewarded with 4 goals (great game)

Really happy with our performance last night and good to see us follow-up last week's game with another really even performance. With Moore and McGlynn to come back we have a side capable of scaring a few teams in September.

There is something about Brett Kirk's big beautiful smile that gives you a happy heart when you are the footy. He just makes you glad to be there. Beautiful man! Beautiful night!

Did anyone note the surname a very slight Nbr 11 on the Indigenous high flyers (red team)? With a surname of Jetta-Bolton he's surely a future draftee for the swans.

Speaking of the indigenous game, so much for the notion that most indigenous players physically fall into the small, fleet of foot category. For 14-15 year olds, there were a host of tall, rangy, springy players out there last night - some very exciting looking talent.

I heard Jetta-Bolton's name called a number of times and wondered if he was related. There was also a Rioli out there. Played in the mid-field but was of a more solid build.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Depends what they do with the co-captaincy with Bolton and Goodes, but Macca is a possibility, or they may go younger (and try and take advantage of the marketing angle of the RL background) and go straight to Kizza...

Jack still has some way to go. In particular, we are yet to see how / if he will cope with a tag when it arrives. I suspect most coaches still think of him as the player Sydney will send to tag one of their better players. And despite a gradual improvement over the season in most facets of his game, it is only really in the past month that he has exploded into being such a creatively attacking force.

If Longmire decides to keep with the 3 captain thing, ROK is probably next in line.
