One thing I love is that our 20th and 22nd players (in terms of disposals) got 7 goals between them. That says something about everyone contributing.

I can understand why the newspapers focus on Carlton in the aftermath to a large extent - their season is over - if you wanted to write something about them and still make it topical, it has to be done in the next day or so. The Swans are still in it - plenty of time to write articles about them.

However, it would prove more accurate reporting if the journalists at least mentioned the missed opportunities of the Swans as well as the Blues when analysing the result (we had the same scoring shots after all!). A few of the articles that I have read seem to highlight the missed shots of the Blues, but ignore all the similar ones by the Swans (McVeigh's couple, Goodes, Bevan, Jack, and even Hanners OOF are the equal of anything the Blues did). It is ridiculous to suggest that Carlton lost the game because of those shots when the Swans had numerous opportunities to score more goals than they did also.

I think this is fair comment. Even so, in the midst of lamentations over the Blues was this comment from Jon Ralph:

Sydney was majestic early, and maybe even more so late.

The Swans possess world sport's most precious commodity - the belief victory is possible from even the most desperate situation.

As a result, they will take on the Bulldogs next Saturday night still believing a premiership is not out of their reach.

Johnson to retire at end of season. Hope we have more motivation and will than they do. It will be a hard fought game.

People are speculating about whether Hall might get rubbed out for that little jab on O'Brien. (Hopefully not - there wasn't much in it.)

But does anyone think we have anything to worry about? Specifically, might the MRP take offence at Jack lifting Judd up and dumping him into the ground?

Yep. We had chances in the first half to put the game beyond Carlton. It really would have been a terrible loss if we didnt get over the line, which makes all the more better when you win!

I was cutting a few clips up of the game for Youtube and maybe I'm over analysing things but you could really see the anxiety written on Roosy's face towards the end of the game. it was probably no different from any other finals game but when the Blues were in front and also when it was locked up and Judd missed the kick, the camera flashed backed to Roosy and he just had this look on his face like, 'Don't let it finish right here'. I hope it does drive them on. Roosy and Kirk didn't deserve to go out like that yesterday, not that people deserve things I guess but hopefully you know what I mean. I'm glad the boys got up yesterday.

Finally recovered enough to post. What a finish. I was absolutely exhausted at the end. I thought we were gone as soon as I opened my Record and saw who the umps were. Was quite comfortable at half time. Thought we'd blown it in the 3rd Qtr. Screaming my head off and feeling the eagles doing laps in my stomach during the last qtr. Went completely off when TDL pulled off that tackle and goal and totally lost it at the end. I can't take too many more close ones from the Swannies. And we won despite the most biased umpiring performance I've ever seen. GO YOU MIGHTY SWANNIES!!!! (Note: my new avatar photo was taken before the game yesterday.)

Watched the replay, gee our 3rd qtr was poor, was like we were stuck in the mud at the clearances.
Can't afford to drift out like that again next week.

After watching replay, just want to say Great Game - so impressed with the way the Swans played. They really stepped up to the intensity of finals football with lighting run on play and intense tackling. I can't recall them playing with that intensity since 2006. It's a bit of joke the way the press and Carlton supporters blame the loss on their missed opportunities and seem oblivious to the number of times the Swans hit the post or how well we played. Even in Q3 when momentum was with Carlton, there were several scoring opportunities that could have stopped their run. One in particular where the ball bounced on the goal line and then directly backwards into play. Also in the first half there were many passages where luck was against us and we could have been 8 up at half time - that interchange incident for example.

Anyway, the young players have now experienced extreme finals footy and if they can all come out like that against the Doggies it will be sweet. Looking Good.
