Hopefully Bradshaw won't injure himself running on and off the field for his stints on the bench. I saw him play both games in Canberra - wouldn't have thought that he was ready to play finals. McGlynn will be vulnerable to a knock on the head, helmet or not. ROK injured can't be better than a fit Bevan who is a tough finals experienced in-form player. I am heavily biased toward White, but can understand why Bradshaw would be preferred. However I hope that what happened in the first Reserves match v Belconnen doesn't recur - everyone was looking to kick to Bradshaw in the first half, rather than playing their usual game, and our game suffered as a result.

Bradshaw's game style is predictable (predictably good) but White's is unpredictable and I believe that has been an unexpected strength that is hard to defend against.

I know that a winning team gets a kind of smooth flowing ball movement going through being able to anticipate what every player is about to do before they do it. eg they know player x's kick will swing to the left so they start running there and it looks like the ball is on a string. Throw a new player into this, even a better credentialled one and that movement can be lost. Players start trying to anticipate the new players movements and give the ball to him. Great if it works but can also be a stuff up.We lost games trying to find Barry Hall. So what do you do?.. Stick to well known principles and pick a team on form .Form players will not let you down no matter how rough it gets.

Bradshaws one on one contested marking ability and body work is one of the best in the game, a long bomb to him and you have a 60-70% chance of him beating his opponent and marking it.

Plus i don't think our midfield have forgotten how he moves, from the first 6 games of this year.

What was the point of naming a team when you are travelling with 3 emergencies!!

I agree with these sentiments. Of course you'd pick a fit Bradshaw in front of White, but I'd pick White or Bevan in front of an injured ROK. I also assume that the selectors know much more about what's going on than I do, but from the outside looking in, I don't think we've picked our strongest possible team.

Bottom line is that we have to improve to advance any further. Bradshaw and McGlynn improve us, so I'm prepared to back the club's thinking that they're both right to go.

Good point. We may think it's not the right time to be taking risks, but rolling the dice on Braddy might just be a gamble that pays off and gives us that bit extra we might need to beat St Kilda or Collingwood. I'd rather him coming in this week over a depleted bulldogs as opposed to a prelim final against a firing Saints....

Roos says Braddy is fitter than he was pre-R1 so that's good enough for me. He is such a talent that he could be a real threat at FF. It's how we cover HF that will be a worry with ROK lame. I'm more worried about Ben because he plays that in and under forward and may be a bit head shy. Bring out the helmet.

White is very stiff to miss out - I'd prefer ROK out and him in. But, as I've said over and over we know just a tiny bit of the whole story.

Isn't there talk about Lake carrying an injury, too?

Bevo can feel himself very hard done by. He's played well the past few weeks. I agree with CJK - Roos' reaction when he missed that easy shot last week was a clear indicator that his game was seen as pluses and minuses.

Overall, the trend of the past few years runs true - we have a good but close win against the Blues and everyone thinks we are favourites against the Dogs. Yes we did beat them a few weeks ago. But history says that 4th beats 5-8 about 9 times out of 10. We only have a chance if we do something different and bringing Braddy and Ben in could be just the boost we need.

Does anyone else feel we'll know the result within 10 minutes of first bounce? If either team is two goals up then, you'd back it for the win as this will be a game of momentum. Of course, there's a whole game to play but if we go 20 points down early I reckon it's season over. It will be the stuff of dreams if it's us that kicks away at the start over a dispirited Dogs..

Its difficult with Bevan v ROK. Both totally different players but I would rate a 70% fit ROK over Bevan but if ROK is anything like last week, he shouldnt be playing as he wasnt able to use any his perceived strengths.

I like White and would be disappointed if it was Playfair for White but if you took the view that all we need from Bradshaw is for him do better than kick one goal , provide a couple of goal assists, take three marks , get two kicks and make one tackle, its not a very high bar for someone of his calibre.

Just saw Roos having brekkie round the corner from my place in Coogee, with his wife and parents possibly? Wished him luck for tomorrow and he said unless Bradshaw does something to his knee tomorrow, he should be lining up tomorrow night.

There is an many question marks over Lakes health as there is with Bradshaw, Lake is hardly moving freely himself with a hip complaint.

If that is the case I am excited to see him play and its a good move to put him into the "A "side for this important game which is another "Do or Die" grand final type game. We have rolled the dice! Are any players subject to fitness tests..i see the 3 emergencies are travelling with the team.

That seems about right. Roos seems to like picking the best team he can on the Thursday before going through the final fitness tests (I suppose it lets everyone know where they stand - if one of the emergencies comes in, they would probably realise that they need to have a big game to give themselves a good chance to stay in the team).
