totally agree with you hart & Liz - indeed had Bradshaw not have been injured for the majority of the year there would be no question, even if he had played the last three-four weeks - he'd be in - but as he has been out for such a long time, and lacks real match fitness, I doubt he would keep up. Sure he has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to finals - but in the last few years the Lions finals campaign was a bit of furphy - and their heady flag days were some 6 years ago, the game has changed alot since then too.

I agree with this summing up. I also think the idea of having a player there, just to "run the forward lines" is a luxury we can ill afford.
The whole concept of this is not very flattering to the other forwards and seems to assumes they are dopes who don't know where to position or run.We have a coach,we have runners who can tell them, why do we need a player out there to run them?So having two suspect players in the forwards and one picked as the "General" will I fear backfire on us. I hope we don't go that way.
But most of Hartijon's post was about Moore I'm presuming and seems to have him in the forward line in a deck chair and sun hat, perhaps with a fat cigar and megaphone. I'm suggesting that mere stats won't determine Moore's place in the squad. He had 12 disposals at 75% and laid six tackles. That's significantly better than Jude, for example. Moore, I expect will be in the first 12 picked for the team each week on the role his fulfils and how well he does it. That, to use a suitably political term, gives him a pretty safe seat.
But none of us has a clue so we can go around and around until those who do know tell us what the decision is. A bit like Canberra but here we don't get to vote every three years (or less). On that front I'm happy for Julia but having just scraped across the line there I hope her team doesn't on the weekend.Comment

Sounds unlikely from this story posted in the other thread that ROk would be dropped:-

I think a few people are forgetting that at the start of the season, Bradshaw had never played AFL in this team, NO pre-season because of surgery/s and it only took him 2 games before he was kicking a minimum of 4 goals per game...
If he can run freely then he MUST come back into the side, he is now familiar with our team and will slot straight back in and kick goals!Comment

I was at training - they didn't train for long and Bradshaw was seperate to the group practising goal kicking and marking ... seemed to run full stride leading up as well. McGlynn was out there the longest (with Reid and Rohan) and did a lot of extra running ... have no idea what that means for this weekend but that's what i saw =)Last edited by alison.z; 7 September 2010, 04:38 PM.Comment

Took myself to training today, and sat and watched mostly an empty ground as the boys were either swimming or running in Moore Park. Had a bit of a goss with the millions (make that 6) others, and also watched a mob of kids from Port Pirie (?) Royboy is correct make that the Pilbara and their teachers interact with Uncle, Jetts and Goodsey. Goodsey looked like a flower amongst all those truly black faces - nothing untoward or not pc in what I am saying, they just all wore black, their skin colour was as dark as I have ever seen, except when grinning and they were grinning a lot. They had a great kick to kick on the ground and then the lucky beggers got to clatter down the Paul Kelly race and into the rooms......with their teacher - who looked to be a sort of teacher I would have given my eye teeth to have had - herding them from behind and trying to get them to mind their manners. Great stuff.
Also, watched Braddles taking marks, leaping onto the mattress thingy, and not miss. I am sure you will all be relieved to hear that if he gets back into the team, I would have no qualms having seen him in action today.
One of the great things in watching the boys train is when they get hot and they start to strip down. Eye candy all over the place. Especially, wait for it people ...... Benny. His back is perfectly proportioned, I would give him a 9.5. He wasn't grinning, so I suspect he hasn't had the call for the doggies.
Kirky is having a lot of fun and has a tattoo of 3 stars on one foot (these things may come up in the next trivia quiz) and can chat, and chat.Last edited by Primmy; 8 September 2010, 05:55 AM.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I believe the call for this week is to play Bradshaw, and rest O'Keefe. This may be chosing one doubtful fitness forward against another, but we have done alright for a few weeks with that situation.
Should we win against the Doggies, then you can review the selections again for the Saints game- hopefully with a seniors game into Bradshaw, and a rest into O'Keefe, which would be 2 good outcomes.Comment
