LOL, I've never even been to the place so have no idea of the type of people who go there, and by the sounds of things I probably wouldn't be allowed in either Guess shows I don't get out much huh... I'll probably see you all at the event then (I can already see myself being super productive at work on Friday arvo... not!)

I'm confyoooooozed. With a bamillion sites for the proposed pre-event meetup being tossed about, which one will it be? Seems to be a bit of reluctance being voiced about the Ivy (which I've never seen, but then I've not been in any bars/pubs downtown unless I was eating in one of the hotel restaurants). Which might be more down-to-earth? Is there, as Annie suggested, just a bar in the location itself?

Good gawd, I haven't even checked my suit to see if it's been devoured by moths or possums since I last wore it eons ago. I'm obviously not a fashion plate.

Rather than going down huge scary the escalator to the ball room go to the right and you will see a bar area on the lower ground floor accessible by an escalator at the Pitt St end or stairs from Martin Place and George St. It isn't bad for a drink on a Friday night and close to the function.
Sounds like a good option. From what time will people arrive and how do we find each other? Anyone keep their Brett Kirk mask?

I'm back !!!!!!!!!! (slight tan and all!)- The Ivy???? - not on your life, that joint is just oozing with pretentious prats & wannabees - nup wouldnt be seen dead in that joint no matter how posh it makes itself out to be. - but the bar at the GPO sounds perfect - I will endeavour to be there if I can get the spak filler trowelled on in time. If you get to the Main Event at 6.30 kickoff - the chances of getting a drink straight up are pretty good. LK or Annie can you text me as to where and what time tomorrow please for the RWO Pre Dinner drinkorama???
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
Chickens drink - but they don't pee!

yep definitely prefer the GPO bar to a place crawling with pretentious prats & wannabes, there are enough of those at work *oops did i just say that* aim for around 5:30? will try my best to get away on time, otherwise probably see you all at the event!

I'd be happy to head GPO-ward 5-5.30ish. Too bad my Brett Kirk mask got accidentally tossed (let's not talk about it, grrr) ... I like the suggestion that that's how we could all i.d. ourselves (let alone affectionately torment Kirky at the dinner by putting them up to our faces every time attention turns to him)!

So is there a definitive location for pre-drink drinks ??

Also is a Ciggy Suit considered to be lounge ??

Seems like the GPO bar (in Westin) is the go unless I have my GPO/Westin mixed up.

Yes but only if Ciggy is wearing it.

                          The suits off the monkey.

The sleazy rat infested motel booked.

I'll be carrying a brown shoulder camera case with a confused look on my face - Is that a RWO person over there?

I'm now leaving Canberra, I shall change in Sydney and then progress to this so called GPO Bar. I will be carrying a Ciggy. Not to assist people in identifying me, but rather because I'm slightly mad. Hopefully before 5.30 but I do have to decide how to do my shaved head.

I'll try and head for the GPO Bar by 5.30. I've still gotta do my nails!!!

Damn you weather. Turned cold and gloomy. I'm going to FREEZE.
At least I'll probably be wearing more than the wags.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

And when I say a ciggy I mean a stuffed replica Sydney Swans' mascot not the I'm very cool with an unlit cigarette in a non-smoking area variety
