The author is suggesting that Heeney is the best of all the Academy and Father-Son players that will be bid on in this years pre trade week bidding.

Obviously no one really knows how highly rated Heeney is in the overall draft pool at this stage but it would seem that our first pick could have to be used.

The best scenario is that he is rated by other clubs around the mid-high teens meaning he should slip to our second pick although GWS may want to spoil our party with their batch of first round picks, they have their own plus an activated first rounder, but not sure who it is tied to position wise.

Nice to see the focus on Heeney's ability - when he made his Swans debut much of the focus was on his mother.

So I assume his mum has "ability" as well?

I would assume that no club would bid on a player without an interview. If you're someone like Heeney, who already has a commitment from the Swans, all you have to do at an interview is politely say :"i would disappointed if I played for a team other than the Swans. I'm close to my family, etc........" Just don't seem too enthusiastic to be at another club. I don't think a club would spend their 1st round pick on someone so disposed.

Ross Lyon could try to force us to use a high pick again

Isaac Heeney best for one of the AIS sides in the London trial game. Looking more likely that he will cost us our first rounder but if he does we will still have got a bargain.

Oh, and expect Eddie to complain loudly about our Academy if Heeney is rated a top five prospect and falls to us for a mid-late teen pick!

People in the afl recruiting world are rating Heeney in the top 10. He may be rated higher as the year goes on. I hope he has speed.

Nice article on the Swans website about Heeney and you'll be pleased to know MightyBloods that he is working on his speed!

Isaac Heeney is a gun. He used to play in my under 16's team when he was 13 and was usually one of our best players. From what I remember he is pretty quick too. It will be good to see someone from the mighty Cardiff Hawks on an AFL list for the first time!

Not if we can maintain our current ladder position.

Yes I hear Heeney is being touted as a first round pick - good on him. Sounds like he may be our first pick this year regardless. Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow
