Isaac Heeney (NSW/ACT, midfielder)

The best, most complete onballer in the draft to this point. Might be the best, most complete player in it. Smart, aware, organised, gutsy and always seems to play well early. Will go first round to Sydney as a Swans Academy player.

Abe Davis (NSW/ACT, utility)

Hard not to notice, given his size (193cm) and athleticism. Can interrupt play with a gutsy mark, has good hands and attacks the game. Very limited pre-season so only just getting going, too. Will more than likely go to the Swans as an Academy player.

Good wraps on these two boys...interesting about Davis having a limited pre-season, I wasn't aware of that at all.

We're going to have a pretty awesome midfield in 4-5 years time with the following playing there some or most of their game time;
Kennedy, Jetta, Bird & K.Jack (all close to retirement).
Parker, B. Jack, Jones, Mitchell, Lloyd & Hannaberry (current players).
Perris, Heeney, Mills & Dunkley (likely).
With Naismith and Nankervis likely to be our main rucks.
Have I forgotten anyone?
It's going to be difficult seeing our current youth like Hewitt, Dick, etc getting a spot on our list unless they reinvent themselves in the back half. A couple of them will probably play in the forward half under Buddy and Tippett and maybe one or two in the back half but it is going to be difficult to fit them all in.

There is height and potency in the forward line. A very deep midfield line with 12 players able to go into the midfield at any one time. The backline is rejuvenated with Johnson and Rohan playing well after long term injuries. Abe Davis is the new Alex Johnson as the young gun third tall. Reid can continue to swing between the forward and backline. There is some serious pace in the side with Smith, Rampe, Rohan, Jetta, K.Jack, Heeney, Cunningham , Mglynn, Jones, Franklin,Lloyd and Mills regarded as quick players. There are the big bodies of Kennedy and Parker in the middle. Jones has emerged to be one of the really strong defensive midfielders (taggers) in the competition. There is class and endurance on the Half Forward line with Hanners and McVeigh. Mills starts as Sub but is highly regarded due to his high placing in the draft. The only possible weakness is in the ruck with Toby N and Tippett. There is significant competition for places from depth players:

Interesting looking team and exciting for our future if it all pans out this way! But couldn't help notice there was no mention of Tom Mitchell and Membrey. Predicting a trade/free agent loss in the near future I see! In that case I would expect we would hopefully get something quality in return that should slot into that side also!

Birdy for me is still in the best 22 come 2016 even though Heeney is exciting he will be a bit behind a few of the tough inside Swans

Definitely don't go writing off Hewett...has class and silk written all over him. He was the youngest player selected in last year's draft and the Swans were absolutely stoked to pick him up so low, similar to how they felt about Hanners and Parker. Certain reports have said they strongly considered choosing him instead of Jones at pick 15.

I think Tom Mitchell will attract a heathy monetary offer and guaranteed senior football at the end of this year from another club. He may elect to go. The Swans would probably get an early 2nd round pick.

Membrey may stay on beyond this year but I think his ability to get games as the Swans third tall depends on the recovery of Alex Johnson and the development of Alire and Abe Davis. If Johnson, Alire and Davis don't break through in 2015, that will lead to Sam Reid playing more regularly in the backline. This would open up a forward line spot Membrey. Whether or not Goodes plays on in 2015 will also be a factor.

I don't think Goodes can play in 2016 as a 36 year old!

There's been plenty of chatter about Mitchell being traded, probably just speculation due to the number of classy midfielders we have coming through the system. But most of the pundits rate Mitchell a pick 4 or 5 if there aren't concerns about his ankle. I can't see Mitchell going for less than a top 10. He hasn't played many games, but he's shown that he can excel at AFL level, something the new recruits have yet to do. Injury concerns aside, he's a proven player and that has to go into the equation.
