Really good article from Shane Crawford that fits the theme of this thread perfectly. Basically, you don't have to be a superstar to play a critical role...

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

That's a good article. It's taken me a while to get over Shane Crawford's association with The Footy Show, but I think he knows the game and I respect his opinion. He's on the money imo about the roles of the blokes he's mentioned.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I always had a soft spot for him as well and thought he used to do his job without necessarily racking up the stats. Clearly, Rossy sees some of that. Looks like Michael Gardiner might be the unlucky Saint. Played for the losing sides in 2005 and 2009 G/Fs and now, with the hammy injury may not have a shot at redemption next Saturday.

There would only be a few current players in the AFL who have played 5 grand finals at all. Presuming he gets the nod this week (and if he's fit, no reason to doubt it) Dempster will be one of very very few (if any?) players in VFL/AFL history to play 5 grand finals within their first 100 games. Sure, you gotta be lucky (he can tell Brad Johnson and Robert Harvey all about being lucky), but this is obviously no one-off fluke either. You gotta be doing something right.

Do you wish Goodes could (or would) tag like Kirk?

Always been a fan of Blue Steel, thought he would develop into a KP as he seemed to have the frame...but no time spent in the gym.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Of course! But I'm pretty pleased with him as he is.

I must say Didak was very poor defensively and it almost looked "too hard" for him.
Yep, he did what many others before him had done, run themselves into trouble. Unfotunately for him, his resulted in a goal.

I would've given Dawson the Norm Smith for laying out Didak like that, softened him up for the rest of the game!!

He contributed on Saturday...without ever looking better than the ordinary...honest...player that he has always been.
Good luck to him...but I would not be chasing him for the Swans I don't really get what coaches see in him!
You can feel sorry for Johnson & Harvey...both of whom I admire...but Bob Skilton must wonder what he did wrong...tain't fair!

I think Ross Lyon accused him of Luke Ablett's cross goal blunder on OWAAT tonight. I'm sure Luke would like history re-written but a tad harsh for poor Sean!

He played for a dud team, that's what he did wrong.
