Dempster was sensational today. He wouldn't be in the team if he didn't have a role to play. Same as in 05. Good luck to him next week. I'll be barracking for him and Schneider again.

Must admit I was just barraking for Dempster and Schneider. So proud of Dempster, he has had a fractured career, but nothing shatters that exterior of his; blue steel again - still. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I think Dempster is a good player, I always enjoyed watching him play, although some of that may have been because I also enjoyed watching his Dad play in the 70's. To say he is a lousy player is really denying the facts, he is a good player, but will never be any more than that.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

That's about how I see him too, but as we saw, a good (as distinct from great) player can make a difference at crucial moments. I wish our flying HBFers, especially Tadhg, could be as effective a stopper as Dempster.I think Dempster is a good player, I always enjoyed watching him play, although some of that may have been because I also enjoyed watching his Dad play in the 70's. He's not in there as a flying HBFer though. The Saints have the likes of Gram, Gilbert, Goddard and Fisher variously playing a rebound role from defence. His role in the Saints team is far closer to that of a Smith, albeit he's a bit taller and bigger, or Mattner and Shaw (who sometimes defend, sometimes rebound).Comment

Exactly Liz, and I sometimes ask myself why they traded him, and I answer myself 'because they had to trade someone! and he is injury prone" other than that I wish he could have stayed. He's not in there as a flying HBFer though. Point taken, but I thought he fulfilled that sort of role (HBF) for us a lot of the time. I just wish that Tadhg possessed Dempster's stopping power. He's not in there as a flying HBFer though. 88% effficiency was the highest of the day. His HTB was a bit unfortunate, IIRC he had nowhere to go. There were plenty of blatant HTB on the day that weren't paid.
I must say Didak was very poor defensively and it almost looked "too hard" for him.Comment
