Sounds like he may already be the best kick in the club!
what a classic question from our proud club

"Sydney asked me if they picked me up and asked me to change my boots and my hair, would I?," he said. "I told them I'd be more than happy to do that. AFL is something I have aspired to since I was a kid."

First 3 picks look good.....but Spangher has shown little in 4 seasons, will be a journeyman at best....A waste of a pick IMO

Depth pick to cover Bolton, I'd say. But yeah...

In all honesty, one of the least talented AFL footballers I've ever seen. This is a bungle of Chambersesque proportions. If we turn this bloke into a footballer, then we are truly the football alchemists.

Does he have to change it from black to blonde? it'll help to confuse the commentators to pick between Pebbles, Kizza, Hanners, Bevo and now Baaa

LOL. Yarram is your typical country footy club. They continually battle against the bigger clubs in their league and usually punch above their weight. Jed is a typical Yarram kid with a huge tank and and an amazing level of pure skill. Every time i've seen him play he has cut us to pieces with his pace and endurance. He has an even temperament and always fought out games to the end even when Yarram suffered heavy losses. I am really rapt he made it to us, he has all the qualities to be a terrific "Swan". Welcome Jed.

Oh and Yarram wear red and white too......

Johnson considers himself a chf something I dont believe we need and surely there must have been someone better than Spanger. How many games did he play for the weagles and what height is he?
According to this season's Age footy guide, Spangher is 195 cm and 95 kg.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Well, me and the recruiters are happy with Spangher.

I'll even go so far to say that he should start in the seniors.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Still not happy with Spangher, even if CBolts doesn't come up I reckon Spangher is a poor replacement but I hope I'm proved wrong. We must have done due dilligence.

Would really have liked to see us try local boy Trent Stubbs, think Collingwood may have pinched something there.

Indeed. By all reports he is quality. However, Hawthorn wouldn't have given up on him for no reason. Perhaps a personality or temperament issue instead, I'm not sure.

"It was a list management issue," Beatson said. "Obviously some of our key defenders are getting a bit older and we had some problems towards the end of the year with injuries to Bolts (Craig Bolton)and Lewis Roberts-Thomson so we could have selected another 18 year old but history will tell you that those key position players are incapable of playing for at least two years.

"We need someone who can play now and Matt has shown he is able to play as that centre half back who can run with the Riewoldts and those sorts of players. We weren't going to be able to service that through drafting another kid."

                          Good enough for me. Tick

What makes you think that......a spate of injuries...a dose of the flu to the entire squad...a tsunami perhaps ? Who's place is he taking?
It reeks of a Playfair type selection.

dont know about Spangher..would ahve preffered Gamble or even Polo, Eddy etc...
just not sure about his football smarts, but maybe the weagles ahve been playing him in the wrong position, they dont exactly ahve the best tactical/ development coaches in the league, maybe he would be best suited to a forward roll, he has size on his side...

oh well i guess we will wait and see

I would have preferred them take a gamble on a kid, but given last years effort and the other three its probably worth giving the recruiters the benefit of the doubt.
