Based on previous years pre seasons that Bird has had injury wise, hearing nothing about him is a great sign.

Easily in our best 22 when fit.

Should be a straight swap for Kirk.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Yes I do think Kirk has demonstrated (vastly) more football skills than Craig Bird has to date.

I also think that editing the post I quoted, both in your original and in the quote in my post, to completely change the nuance of what I was responding to is sneaky at best.

Sneaky, no, stating what I actually meant, yes.

You can have all the skills in the world but if you don't get the ball they're not much use.....when it comes to getting the ball kirk was a 9/10 and bird a 3/10 on the odd occasion he was not injured. No comparison IMO.

the reason why he has fallen from the nest is that we are still not sure how good he could be. There is a lot of love for him on this site. I remain unconvinced that he will make it - his skills are not quite there and he is very one-paced. The issues for him will be whether he can improve his skills to be a genuine greg williams paul couch type player (in an era where such players are few and far between) or whether his speed and motor will improve following a long run of games in the side.

Lets put it this way - he may well end up a jarrad mcveigh or a ben matthews - play a lot of games for us and be pretty important - but still be a role player in the sense that he will never be genuinely elite (and whats wrong with that anyway !) or he could be a star, or he could just drift out of the club as a 24 yo having played 50 odd games...
the jury must still be out on him.

Kirky wasn't a 9/10 for anything when he was 21.

Stop confusing things Jewels! Details, mere details!

Craig will be ok, he has a bit of time on his side. But Kirky is Kirky, and not many of us would be able to match up.... wish I had his smile and deep self confidence

Nup just 10/10 for hard work and desire to play AFL. Not important stuff really..............
