Could not agree more. In teams that I have played in,these kind of players are greatly appreciated by the players(Not always the coaches)because they finish off all your hard work with a goal. Who cares if they get 6 possessions a game if they get 4 goals and keep an opposition player out of the picture.Last time I saw a game the team that scored the most goals still wins? So players who are highly accurate kicks for goals and have goal sense SHOULD be valued. Can't understand the thinking at the Swans with TDL particularly as he proved himself a big game player. Keeping Bevan in and TDL out is mystifying and our losses to me often stem from selection night!

From the Reserves games I've seen TDL hasn't been great so hasn't been knocking down the selection door. However I do agree that Bevan has to go and TDL is the obvious choice.

We are crying out for the alternative style of forward he is in the team, and as long as he works hard when he doesn't have the ball, then he should be in the team. We need to diversify away from this very tall model we are currently using, as its just not working in my opinion.
Exactly. We are lacking goals. TDL kicks goals. Seems pretty simple to me.

Can't understand the perception of Pyke not pulling his weight. It dosen't add up. Here are the stats from the game with a few comparisons:

          Disp K H M Tackles HO Cl I50 CP 1% G
          Pyke 7 2 5 1 6 20 2 1 8 6 0
          Mummy 11 5 4 4 7 34 1 4 9 8 2
          White 3 2 1 0 4 0 0 1 3 3 0
          Jetta 6 4 2 1 2 0 0 2 6 3 0

I havn't got the TOG stats but I would imagine that he only spent about 60% of the time on the ground that Mummy did. This makes his stats very impressive for a big man on a wet night. The goals that Mummy got was because Pyke was taking the load in the ruck.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

i would say pykes tackling is not only highest but the most impressive, i thought he was very good friday night, just though for team balance he was the wrong late inclusion, but probably should of been in the side to begin with in hindsight

It's all very confusing, who to play right now, while Pyke does offer some good input, Seaby has the experience, with so many of our players in their first couple of years, I'd probably go for the senior guy, take white out, maybe put him in the backline where he has to work harder and follow a forward around. Not that I'm certain of anything really, with KJ out, we are in trouble, I think the second half of the year when we get LRT, Eski, Tadhg all fit and running off the backline, Bradshaw would be a bonus, but i doubt we'll see him again. We need to find an effective forward setup, bit of experience up there would help, asking too much of Goodes right now, Benny is working, and Bevan should be played for his defensive pressure in the pocket, Reid back into the forwards, and with Seaby in the side we can rotate him and mummy FF and ruck, it might work, and in the dry, we have to keep Jetta for the speed

Give him more time in the seniors and he will be in the top 15 at the end of the year imo he will never be as good as mumford or any other high tier ruckman. But he has the skills to be mid range ruckman and a dangerous forward if he learns the role a bit more. Give him time and he will shine thats my moto for him.

Saying he offers nothing around the ground obviously you haven't seen the amazing tackles he puts on the opposition if you havent watch abloodsmans vids and see for yourself.
Totally agree. Pyke has done more than enough to earn his place and with a regular game could become one of our best by the seasons end.

Mummy can still go forward for 3/4 game I dont understand your point?. You want our best ruckman to sit in the fwd line in the last qtr?
The otherpoint i was trying to make was to give Jesse a full game at ff and not put him on the ball- ff is probably the hardest position to learn (given his basketball background)he needs time at ff not trying to play backup ruckman.

If people did their research properly they would know that Jesse played football from a very young age right through to being drafted. "Coming from a Basketball background" is not just an excuse it is absolute BS. He played both.

For what it's worth I'd like to se Dill given a game as well. He's a tough in and under midfielder so perhaps not that bad a swap for Jack. Probably won't happen but I think he has a lot of character and the few times I've seen him in the reserves he's hasn't done much wrong.

If AJ is out I'd like to see Reid forward with LJ given a chance down back. We badly need additional smarts out of the backline.
Not sure we can bring Dill in with Moore and McGlynn. Can Dill tag?
May be an option as I would like to free Shaw up to provide us with some run and maybe sneak forward in Melcho's absence.
Do like the idea of Mummy as a leading forward but like him pinch hitting. Minson did look slow last week so Mummy could run him a bit ragged similarly to Leigh Brown.

No matter how many times it's pointed out, the myth still persists. White only took a year or two of footy off to focus on basketball in his mid-teens.
