Bird, Hannas, Ryano, Benny, Josh, Maca, Mal, LRT, Grundy, Teddy, Mattner, Shaw, Jettstar everyone I can't name them all. If they are allowed to play like this by the coach they will worry the top sides but if he goes defensive against them we will continue to struggle. Let the natural talent shine. I was impressed by TDL on his return, he chased, tackled, harrassed & wouldn't let the ball out of our forward line. His example was followed by all the rest & that is the end of the story. In previous weeks we have let the basll go back too easily. TDL also provides the extra option & can take a strong mark way out of his height. This looked a much better side. The midfield reacted to criticism the right way & performed, they were scintilating.

When the whips were cracking early and the Swans were dominating, I thought Bird was just sensational and a clear BOG at halftime. Easily his best game for the Swans, following up last weeks best game ever for the Swans...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Centre clearance work was outstanding. Just goes to show how winning your fair share of centre clearances makes a difference on the scoreboard. When we got our clearances in the first 2 quarters the Lions backline were often behind and clearly under pressure, and it allowed us far more scope for forward, defensive pressure.Comment

Not a bad kick either. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

My only negatives were Ben McGlynn's awful field kicking; a long kick to a contest is a far better option for him, and a few of our players got a bit cute with their kicking in the second half which resulted in unnecessary turnovers. What was Everitt doing with that dumb handpass. Don't reckon he did his selection chances any favours with that one.
Otherwise a great effort.
I reckon Goodes was given a rest day up forward after halftime.
Craig Bird's best game. He will never be anything more than an average kick but he was always making space and dropping in behind the play, and he had a tagging role. He just seemed to be in the right place at the right time all game.Comment

Too soon after Farmer I think. If he's going to be called anything other than Birdy - which is fine - then maybe Tommy. (I don't think there's another one in the League, but happy to be corrected.)He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. happy with that win, but i expect us to beat brisbane easily anyway. Everitt should either start or not play (im leaning towards not play) he has no impact as the sub. Hard to be critical of anyone really, though the scoring dried up in the 2nd half i thought the intensity was there through most of the game. At times we looked quite skilful.
Im impressed with jetta, i know he stuffs up, but we have to wear that at times, keep his confidence up and if he just learns to finish more consistently he is an x factor player we need.
If jack and mumford are both fit next week, then i think everitt would probably go and im not too sure who the other unlucky guy will be. Perhaps the good form of LRT will mean mumford comes in for seaby, though sharing the load with a proper ruckman will benefit mummy more in the long run i think.Theres not much left to sayComment

Well that was much more fun wasn't it?
Thought best games of the year for Kenneally, Bird, Shaw, and LRT. Tadhg in particular looked like he'd turned back the clock - a joy to watch!
Brisbane were just positively awful - I don't recall seeing such one-sided stats. We really should have won by 20 goals - still after the last few weeks I'm very happy indeed with that effort. Great intensity, great passion and plenty of "smart" footy - let's see it every week!
Tough call who to drop for Mummy & Jack.Comment

This is utterly silly of course, but just quietly after watching too much footy this weekend I think Josh Kennedy is at a minimum in the top 5 clearance players in the game, if not the top. There, I said it.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Imagine how he'll be when he bulks up!!Comment

And Joey is only 22.....oooohhhh.
OK, back to The Wizard. I will bow to your superior sensibility. Tommy it is. Of course you realise we are going to have to explain it in detail to most of the current playing list and possibly R&Wers? If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment
