Maybe Parker as a Sub, I know light uyears between AFL and NEAFL but the goal avalanche by TDL must be putting him high up for selectiopn in the run on side next week.

Along with TDL, Spangher as a forward must be seriously considered in the coming weeks. If he continues to show the great hands, speed and accurate kicking that he showed up forward today then we may have found our tall forward target. Long shot maybe but he really impressed me today.

If TDL is fit, he must play. Has to.

You know what I loved ... the way we got in a Sydney chant at the end of the match after the siren had gone off.
Dead set - they deserved it for their gutsy effort.
They even waited till we finished before they played the wobbly song.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Back from the game and it was a great contest. If we had played like that last week we would have beaten Carlton. Watched the last quarter on TV and it was like watching a different game, the commentators ruined what was great to see live.

Still digesting the game. Haven't had a loss feel like a win since we got within a point of the Saints in 2009, but this was more impressive IMO than that game. We actually looked like the more likely winners for a while in the fourth, but I couldn't quite get myself to believe that we could win it. Surely we would have won if Jack hadn't been injured and/or we had been able to contain Cloke (what I wouldn't give for a forward with sticky hands!!) Lots of people around us stood and applauded after the game, Swans and Pies supporters alike. Just one of those memorable nights at the footy, right from the opening bounce. We did get sucked into the Collingwood defensive press in the second quarter, which was the 'ugliest' of the game, but it felt like once we found a way to get through it in the third, we were no longer intimidated by it? Which is probably the biggest positive of the whole game.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for the spray Mick gave the Pies at three quarter time, boy did he look pissed coming down the race as they were letting us back into the game...

We must sit in the same row. Good guys, Richards may well have made a difference.

Not to put too fine a point on it, especially approximately 12 beers in, but SHAME on all of you who said it was not going to be a game worth watching. I didn't get my predicted 19 point victory, but god damn it, the team played the way I knew they could. I am angry we didn't win a game that was so very nearly within our grasp, and some of our boys will not get much sleep reliving a few crucial moments, but i LOVE that if Collingwood have players of the same class, there will be a lot of them lying awake replaying the moments they were dominated by our boys tonight. And sending up thanks to the umpire gods that apparently climbing all over Sam Reid is totally within the rules of the game. (Collingwood will be thanking them, I mean - not me!)

And at the risk of repeating myself - I LOVE Nick Smith. And yes, I know he had a couple of clangers.

PS - Adam Goodes is as good as it gets.

PPS - I put the chewy on Daisy's boot.

Am gutted but am intensely proud of an undermanned team. Sadly the loss of Ted Richards proved crucial with Cloke proving too strong for Grundy. Losing Jack didn't help either.
We can say we can compete with the top teams, but the facts remain we still didn't beat them.

I have to say this, but Tagdh is verging on a liability at the back at the moment. If he send another handpass to an opponent 20 metres out from goal, I swear a remote will go through the TV set!

Still we can head to Animalaide next week with our heads held high. Luv ya Swans! :'-(

Nicely put and it was an awesome game.
I don't feel totally devastated by about our defensive effort tonight. Very tough night for Reggie basically playing a lone hand. He never dropped his head and kept competing. Special note made on his spoil to reduce a certain goal to a rushed behind.
We were missing Teddy and AJ. I thought Kennelly and NIck Mal adapted well particularly when we know they aren't strong defensively and yes Tadhg had a @@@@ up but he is so creative.
When I look at Cloke and Dawes I feel very excited that in the very not too distant future one Sam Reid will be scaring the absolutely pants off all defenders. I don't think his wing man will be LJ or White.
I putting it out there: White needs to play in the Ruck and float forward and back. LJ needs to be traded to Freo for Mundy, Mguzu , Fyfe or other plus a pick (yep tell me I'm dreaming but you know what I mean).
Bring in Dan Currie and plonk him at FF and just see what he can do.
Everitt will be a nice insurance player but failure to hold out Tarrant and allow Birdie to mark are just not good enough IMO.
McGlynn was great tonight and Smith is super.

Bird is classy. Anyone who thinks he is slow needs to watch his clearances. "Slick little handball from Bird".......just remember how often you hear that in a game.
Hanners is an amazing 19 yo.
McVeigh played a captains game today.
Our Josh Kennedy is the best version.

That loss will give us a lot confidence once the disappointment wears off.
We need to stay focussed annd composed in the next couple weeks.
I LOVE MY TEAM and hats off to the supporters when the that terrible Collin-wood chant started in Q3 the red and white people got on their bikes and showed whose home ground it was!

Longmire's game day coaching was fantastic today. Hats of to the Horse.
The likes of Goodes will never be seen again so watch carefully people he is pretty special and he's all ours.

I think the commentators were simply looking at possessions. They mentioned that his averages were down from last year, and the year before that. What they fail to realise is that he is playing a completely different role this year, and doing it very well.

White still disappointed me, you would think given the opportunity he would make more of an effort while in the forward line, altho I thought he did ok in the ruck. I don't think LJ is ready for senior footy and was a complete passenger. Shaw did a reasonable job pressuring Daisy as did most of the team and I believe our pressure was the reason for their poor goalkicking. Once again, turnovers cost us dearly, we just make too many skill errors, but that will fade as some of the 19 yo get some games into them and the bodies mature. Overall it was a very good effort by the boys and if there is such a thing as a good loss, that was it. Take the same team to Adelaide, with the same comittment and we will crush them. I hope Jack isn't out for too long, he would have made a huge difference tonight. ROK, Jude, Kennedy, McVeigh all had great games, as for the backlinr, no one would have stopped Cloke tonight, but at least they kept going, if we get that level of effort every week the boys will win a lot of games

I just don't think you should assume that. I saw The pies play Adelaide a few weeks ago and Adelaide moved the ball as well as any team has for three quarters. It is true that they conceded eleven or so goals in the last quarter to lose the match but we could easily have conceded about the same through the second and third quarters.

The reality is that there are almost no easy beats and Adelaide away will be a really hard game.

Our style of one on one everywhere makes games close almost all the time simply because we defend first meaning we rarely leave our direct opponent too often.

Aside from that we must be proud of the comeback and we may have jagged the win. I don't think too many here are getting carried away. In the same way that the middle stages of the game against the blues flattered them because of our poor kicking at goal the middle stages last night flattered us because of the pies kicking. We should have been ten goals down by the third quarter.

I don't blame Grundy for the performance on cloke - unlike Lloyd I think Grundy was our best matchup for cloke and he has been our best defender most of the year. And some of his efforts in the last quarter were important.

But the game begins and ends with the midfield and hf line. I am just not sure we reacted early enough to the level of pressure on the ball in the midfield and we allowed Maxwell to play loose about a kick behind the ball - and since we could only just manage to throw the ball on the boot it just kept going to where he was

Seabs - love him. Dominant performance tonight.

Big effort by Macca, the best I've seen him put in for a while.

Smith is just awesome IMO. Grace under fire week in, week out. His biggest test tonight and he didn't disappoint.

Jesse & Bevo really had a crack tonight. Not easy to come back in against the competition benchmark after months in the 2's.

A HUGH improvement in effort by everyone from last week. Odd as it sounds it was easier to watch this loss to Collingwood than the win against Richmond.
at the ground Smithy looked like he really struggled with his poor decision making...........but i like him in our 22

                                Birdy did some shockas also

I do like Macca sitting up on the HFF line and structuring our forward line

considering how tight our players had to play that generally means we do not have anytime to release the ball when they get it..............this was a major factor ie we did a fantastic job watching the man 90% of the time and nullifying the opposition ..........ie the Pies midfield had no impact except bomb long to Cloke........therefore our guys could not break free of the pack with ease as they were stride for stride with their opposite number
