How many goals did the Pies gun forwards (Cloke & Dawe) kick to get them over the line 10? Our mids controlled the game, especially in the second half, but our delivery let us down in the first and their defense set up their attacks. I thought our mids were fantastic on the weekend but I still look at the Pies & know they won & wone because of 2 Big Foeward Targets who presented & scored (a lot of points as well as goals, Cloke 6.4). You need specialist forwards & winning a premiership can come down to how your specialist forwards perform. TDL, eventually Lamb, Reid, LJ, Harren, Nipper, spanger, crikey we are looking good so don't knock em. The more that can kick a goal even better, AJ sometimes gets involved too

i also believe we have to use these games that are a bit easier to blood a couple of the younger blokes or someone like Spanger who is just coming back. Adelaide will be competitive for at least a half as they are now playing youth looking to next season. Lets give em a dose of our young blokes & I think we may just be surprised!

^^ I think thats the attitude that see's teams lose games they should win which , thankfully, we haven't been doing this year ( we sure have in the past ). If we were in the position of Geelong or Collingwood, then maybe you can afford to try out more youngsters, rest senior players etc.. but we are far from being in that position, and simply getting the points should be the objective.

I like seeing the young ones play, but they need to earn their spot first.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Me too! I'd love to see TDL get a go. I was just disagreeing with the assessment that his 8 goals on the weekend should or will earn him a spot. The Swans culture and selection strategy seems to be pretty consistent - if you can't or won't do what the coaches ask of you, there won't be a place for you in the seniors. But you never know - maybe he has made enough progress and Henry's comments were just a bit of a reminder to keep focused in advance of a nod for this weekend's game...

So the coaches are asking Kennelly to commit 4 or 5 clangers each week and have little impact in the game? You cant have rules and standards for some and not for others, ive read people say hey he's made 2 mistakes in 2 weels, what bollocks he made 5 huge clangers against the pies,2 directly leading to goal, and 6 clangers against the blues 2 leading directly to goals.

He's referring to THAT tackle in the Cartlon Final Last year.

Just seems that the bar is set pretty high for some - whilst others get a far easier run. RE TDL 8 goals in a half of footy is good by any standards. What more can he do - maybe start rounding up the umpies bringing the ball back thru the centre corridor !!

If that's the case, then the three Ins from last week should be the three Outs this week - Bevan, Everitt and LJ. Unlucky for LJ, but he might retain his spot if Kieza is still not right.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Read the Ressies thread and listen to what Playfair has to say and you'll get the answer to your question.

With the Reserves dominating the coaching staff give the players roles for the express purpose of getting them ready for AFL football. No one will play seniors unless they do what is asked of them.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I did read and listen to the report and base my opinion not on one week but on the past 8 weeks. What I am saying, an observer, there seems to be some inconsistencies in what some players are expected to achieve whilst others seem to slip under the radar.

Wouldn't it only be 2 changes? Jack was already in the side.

If Richards and Johnson come in, that's 2 defenders. Are we going too defensive?
