I thought the board made a huge mistake in promoting Horse. Our game plan looks tired and very 2005/2006 style. We need some new ideas and playing styles. Some players are getting a game on reputation and he has killed the career of White. Why TDL is out of the side when he is fit is amazing. Horse is slow to make changes once the game starts and gets out coached a lot. We have lost 4 wet weather games at the SCG and the team has no idea how to play when wet. Not coached for wet weather football it seems. 3 tall forwards today was a huge mistake in slippery conditions.

Presumably you're a senior citizen because you'd have to be nodding off during our games to believe that Longmire is travelling well

Some of the crap coming from the players has nothing to do with the coach. Also I prefer to read posts that criticizes what Horse is doing instead of personally attacking him. Calling him a "muppet" and a "moron" isn't exactly constructive. As you say your entitled to express your view anyway you like.

Two GFs , a P and multiple finals games might have dulled the memory of some folks.

Yet , similar questions got asked about Roos - on this very site.

Longmire may , or may not , prove to be a good coach. There are some quite valid points in this thread.
Regardless , he deserves time .

We are the Sydney Swans - not Chelsea FC , where even world-class coaches are sent packing when they don't deliver instant results.

              Well put Swansinger.

He's been hamstrung a little this year because we just dong have a genuine big body forward like most teams. That's not say he hasn't made errors (he's human) but from the outside looking he isn't performing as badly as some suggest. At the end of the day though he'll be judged on results and at the moment we are going poorly so he will be judged harshly because of it.

                - Poor sub selections that have actually cost us games (Demons, Crows)
                - Taking too long to make changes (eg Grundy getting flogged by Cloke and not moving him, Shaw getting flogged by Rioli)
                - Playing players out of position - LRT at Full Forward, Jessie White in the ruck
                - Selecting players on reputation, not form
                - Being focussed more on tackling then kicking goals (no games for TDL)
                - Having a lack of forward structure all year
                - Consistently pcking 3 tall forwards on wet days
                - Dropping Seaby
Agreed on all counts. And I would add repeatedly selecting too many defenders. I think the current problems with the list itself, are due to Roos, and I think Horse with time will develop are more well rounded squad than Roos was capable of.

FFS dude. Get over it. No, we do not have the inside information the coaches do. But do we watch the games? Yes. So we're judging based on the output we see. If you can't cope, I think you should get off the board.

I think we have become predictable and need to mix things up a bit. There is a silver lining though, with Mitchell as the father son pick and a lot of room in the salalry cap with the loss of Bradshaw and Bolton and probably Kennelly and even Jude if his knee doesn't come up. I suspect we will be in the trade room very early in the trade week this year.

To me it is more the blame of the players whose goal kicking and field kicking really are not up to AFL standard. Right now Horse seems to be hamstrung trying to work on making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Maybe we should just digest the fact that we are not good enough.

Well your right that our kicking is woeful whether its at goal or too a teammate with no pressure on you.

Isnt it the coaches job to improve skills?

If not ive been coaching the wrong way for the last 8 years.

You are right on that point, but you would have to wonder what more coaches can do with long time serial offenders like McGlynn (field and goal), ROK (field and goal) Kennedy (getting worse) Mattner, Grundy, Malceski (worm burners) and now Kennelly. As a coach of 8 years you must have coached some of these types who continually make the same errors.

Yeah i have but not sure what goes on at afl level, but guys who just cant be fixed at local footy level are made to handball when at all possible and use the designated kickers in the side. The thing is you really shouldnt be able to get to AFL level with this skill level.

Mind you if all you do is practice structures and not skill execution id assume all players at any level will have the skills wane as the season goes on as in a game isnt the time to be training.

And if youve seen the coke zero promo thing with our players hitting a can strapped to a post im not sure its as much skill as maybe fitness, yes your under alot of pressure during a game but veterans especially should be able to hit a target 7-8 times out of ten at the least, maybe fatigue is playing a big part in it.

Though with ROK it seems like he's been told just whack it on the boot and dont worry where it's going, maybe he's was getting caught holding it too often,or maybe its fatigue? If its not fatigue there are many drills and tools a coach can use to help improve players skills, unfortunately its too late in the season for an easy fix, although a slight improvement could be the difference between playing finals this year or not.

I Like Johnny and I like the game plan for our level of talent but Mick Malthouse like a Wayne Bennett for the Dragons would be a massive signing !

After last season under Roos it looked like we were going forward, 1 step forward and 3 back, we are shocking to watch, our kicking, structure, drive and desire is shocking. WHO DO YOU BLAME, the water boy?

Fair enough but I have detailed my criticisms of Longmire in numerous other threads this year already. The same criticisms could be repeated ad nauseum but I'm sick of typing it each week.
