Longmire has got us playing a new style that some label "slingshot football".His success is due to the right players slotting into this plan and their role in it eg Jetta running and slotting majors,Lrt the makeshift forward. We have the cattle! When we get it right we look awesome but the problem against the Bombers,Geelong and even Carlton is the maintenance for the full time.Whether it is fitness or concentration we often can not maintain this style for a full match and when we drop the plan the opposition score against us. This inconsistency perhaps reflects the number of youngsters in the team. If we ever keep the pressure up for a full game we can beat anybody. Whatever the reasons for being unable to keep the pressure up needs to be carefully worked on in these last weeks .A premiership could depend on it.

Very good call, but I doubt this is something J LO has missed. You can make excuses for all those drop offs, doubt J LO will though.

He has done a fantastic job of constructing a functional forward line. He has brought improvement from every player who has played in the 22 (TDL included!) That improvement in both senior and junior players.

You hear about 'teaching' coaches. Teaching kids is relatively easy. The hardest thing is dragging that 1-5% improvement out of your top players.
J LO has done that, Bolts is playing like a 25 yo, macca has moved his role and improved, jack is now AA, Ted AA.... The list goes on

Kinear picked the kids (and kudos) J LO Has moulded them. The thing that is most impressive, is the tactics and the inspiration he has given to both groups.

Oh man!! Fair enough. It was a bit rude. I just got carried away with my John Longmire love and was being blatantly OTT in what was meant to be an amusing way. I was amused but apparently not everyone was. I wasn't attacking anyone, even indirectly, but it could be read as such, so fair call and my apologies everyone.

You have that whole pot/kettle thing the wrong way around. You see, if I am the pot and you are the kettle, and me calling you out for being rude was the pot is calling the kettle black (as the saying goes), then you are saying that it's funny (ironic) how the pot (me) [in calling the the kettle (you) black (rude)] can sometimes not realise that the kettle (you) is (are) a very dark shade of brown (something approaching but not quite rude). See what I mean? I think you were trying to say that I was being rude after objecting to your rudeness. In that you were correct. See part 1) above.

Lol, good on you. I did get a tad confused with the pots and kettles aspect tho!!!

                Great work mate.

Sorry forgot this part. Yes, you most certainly are, which is why I thought it worth comment. It was not a reflection of you or your post.

Previously, there were thinly veiled (in fact blatantly mentioned) comments about bullying. Truth be known, the biggest bullies are those that use the 'crowd' and come in behind a group of established posters.

That, in my opinion, is cowardly bullying.

Just an opinion and no reflection on you.

The Swans are very exciting to watch under Longmire, you are not sure what magic is about to happen next, whether they win a granny or not, it is riveting to be involved in any small way as a supporter.
They are brilliant in heavy traffic, and creative on the run, they are hitting targets and in defence they are majestic.
They are giving us a great ride this year and into the future. Thanks to all the coaching staff and the response from all the players.
My coaching tip : some players still sometimes show lack of awareness of being tackled when a simple swerve al la Gary Ablett would get them out of danger and prevent costly turn overs.

To add to that point the shepherd has been a dead art for us for many years.
On Sunday I noticed LRT handball to Jack on the wing and then just watched him run off as a blue ran past him without any hindrance from him.

Good point Scott. I have noticed that we're not a strong shepherding team either. I wonder why that is?

Just an observation, but it seems that run and spread and shepherding are mutually exclusive concepts for AFL players lately including the Swans...

I watched my recording of last weekend's game last night. One thing I noticed was that our skill level has improved enormously over the past 12 months. The fast, in-close handballs are finding targets and even the loopy ones seem to to be mainly well executed to lob onto a running player. I remember frustrations during last season when we were all lamenting the lack of skills with this team and kudos to the coaching staff (and players) for turning this around. Even our goal kicking has improved!
